DIGITAL ART-BATTERING (AN ART ABOUT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE)
HI GUYS
Today, I'll be sharing an artwork that's very personal to me. Not that others are not, but this one was special. Last year I moved into a new apartment, and I had this neighbor that were a couple. I never knew they always fight, like real domestic fights. Because for the first few months I was there, I never noticed any sign of such. Maybe, there was, in that, they invariably have quarrels, but I never picked up the impression that it could be that serious.
Until, one night, it started in the usual way, but it got so severe that they began to break things, and I could hear someone head hitting on the wall. I was confused about whether to go and confront them or whether to stay put in my room. It was so disturbing I couldn't sleep throughout the night. Domestic violence is something I always read and saw online, and I never felt it this close. So, I was so scared as to what was going in the other room.
So, the next morning, I met my other neighbor and asked him if he heard what happened the other night. He was not even perturbed. Instead, he replied that it was a regular thing they usually do, and for real, it was almost like a daily happening after that night. The funny thing is that the next day, they'll act as nothing happened. It made me restless, so I have to create art to calm my nerves.
Why am I sharing all these? I later heard that some people tried to help the woman. But she went behind their back to tell the husband that they're trying to destroy their marriage. I know it's quite challenging to quit conjugality, especially in African homes. But, the moment a man lays his hand on his woman. To me, he doesn't deserve her anymore, even if it happened once. So, the best thing is to walk away with your kids, if you've any, or you both should seek help. But I didn't see that happening here, because she didn't need help, and I was more troubled because I couldn't help her. They moved out this year because they had a second child. But, I fear for the woman, because the new apartment they moved to is a duplex, so it's just her and the husband. I pray that God protects her and gives her the ability to seek help one day.

I made my Epstein series because what i learned was so disturbing, i had to get it out of my mind through art.
Music too does that for me. But Art is more expressive, because I can look back to the emotions and energy I released at that moment. Also, I can sell it and make some money.😀
