BIRD ON GOLD | SINGING SCARLET ROBIN (animated)

avatar

My first animated Bird on Gold was realeased on superRare.co. It had been a while since I had minted a Bird on Gold; that series was put on hold as I felt it needed something extra. I think adding animation was the key to bring it to the next level.

THE NFT

The NFT was sold as a rare 1/1 edition on SuperRare

PROCESS TIME-LAPSE+ NFT VIDEO

This piece was drawn traditionally with my usual tools: a fountain pen, Sumi ink & watercolors, and gilded with a gold sheet.

It was then broken down digitally into parts, the outlines were reinforced, and the missing parts were filled with Photoshop.

Finally it was re-composited and animated with Animate.

I also decided to make my first time-lapse NFT with SuperRare, titled "From line to life". I always thought the process was as important as the final piece so I took the decision to start minting my time-lapses. I really hope there is some interest in this type of NFTs.

Here is the process NFT

REFERENCE & INFO

The Scarlet Robin is s a common red-breasted Australasian robin. The species is found on continental Australia and its offshore islands, including Tasmania.

Would you like to know more?

As you can see this time I deviated a lot from the reference picture of this Scarlet Robin.

I only use reference pictures for the first draft of my drawing, then play around with proportions and structure to make the bird look as appealing as possible.

That´s it for today, I hope you enjoyed my birdie; I think I´ll animate more of these, it´s a nice break from my skulls.

As a final note, I gotta say that I had lost all drive and pleasure to animate and CryptoArt really brought my passion back, I had a blast adding animation to my last pieces.

Thanks for being an awesome and supportive community, cryptoArt ftw!🙏👊

Be fucking awesome to each other,

Skeenee!

Awesome! Can't wait :)

P.S. Don't post twice the same post, as it can be seen as abuse. If you want your post in another community, you can use the crossposting function on peakd. It will share a link to the original post.

Thanks a lot, I am reviving this series and will be producing more. I had put it on hold because felt it missed something, I think adding animation to it made it whole.

As cute as the cover (and main I'm guessing?) piece was, my favourite was the last image where the bird merrily hops off screen XD

Nice. I've fiddled with animation using pencil style drawings. Very old school frame by frame. It's fun but drawing each frame limits detail. You made me want to look at Animate.

Thanks! Traditional animation was my first love, but it "died" as I was studying it, such a magnificient art style. I am still having fun with tweening animation but would love to try to go back to frame by frame for a project or two:)
