Splinterlands Art Contest - Dark Ha'on

avatar

Hello, everybody!

Today I share with you this illustration that I recently made to participate in the Splinterlands Art Contest // Week 104 . This time I decided on a card a little different from the ones I have recreated before, because I liked very much the mystique of the character, its unique power and mostly its very bright colors; it is Dark Ha'on of the Death element. As always I made some changes when I recreated the character I chose for this opportunity, to give my own touch to the card, but always respecting the original design.

All my illustrations are made with colored pencils, also with some markers for some details that I want to highlight and paint only for more complex backgrounds. I hope you like the final result of the card I chose, I did it with a lot of love.

Thanks to #splinterlands for giving us the opportunity to express our art in the best possible way through this contest, which I find impressive to see and be part of.

The Making Process

  • As a first step to make my illustration will always be, of course, to capture with pencil the whole part I chose to draw, which in this case will be the character of the card I chose this week. Then, once I have a good base I can start applying the color.

  • Now in the next image you can see how I applied warm colors and a little bit of black too, on the rock where this incredible character is standing very majestically, all in a very soft way to create a kind of base first which I will continue to work on in the other images.

  • In the third step you can see how I am intensifying the color more and more, in my illustrations the color will always be intense so that it stands out a lot and is the protagonist. In this image I progressed a lot in the color of the rock, I gave it much more texture and a little bit of light and shadow in some parts.

  • I started to work on the character I chose on this occasion, applying a base of that intense purple tone that I liked very much; also on the golden details on the skin that are very characteristic of this mystical beast and of course, I continued to improve the colors on the rock little by little.

  • Once I finished coloring the whole body in purple and the details it has too, I moved on to the wings, giving a touch of color in shades of lilac, light blue and turquoise to provide small changes that I decided to make to the character, always respecting how it looks originally.

  • As you can see in the image on top, I advanced much more in the base color of the wings that I decided to leave it the same, in that nice purple tone, but I wanted to change the shape of the wings and make them look with more dimension and texture so they don't look so flat.

  • I finished applying color to both wings, but still missing the last touches that I will work on later. I started to draw just the background in a very soft way in warm tones.

  • I worked more in the background intensifying the colors, creating a warm sunset to stand out too; I finished the last details and now my drawing is ready. I hope you like it too.
