"Down By the Sea" - Original Seascape Oil Painting
(Edited)
Most people are not aware of my artistic abilities as I have not done any posts on Hive showing my work.
As far back as I can remember I always had an instrument in my hand scribbling, coloring, sketching, drawing, painting and creating something.
My first medium was Crayola crayons - actually it might have been baby food!
Mom and Dad used to tell the story of one occasion when I got in trouble for using crayons to color on the wall next to my toddler bed. When confronted and asked about it, my parents said I gave my best angelic look, said I was sorry followed by telling them it would come off with Ajax!
Undeterred by the scolding, Crayola crayons once again came back to be my demise, this time in kindergarten when I got in trouble for coloring the inside cover of my box of crayons.
Was that really something a five-year-old should get in trouble for? I [still] think not.
The years rolled by as they tend to do and by the summer before I started high school, oil paints were my preferred medium - my drug of choice.
The "art studio" where I worked was an area set up in the unfinished area of the basement where the heady combined fragrances of turpentine and paints had both an euphoric and inebriating effect on me.
I loved the creativity and escape oil painting provided!
When I was fourteen, I created this ocean seascape using memories of sites visited on family vacations stored in my mind. I enjoyed applying the paint to the homemade, stretched canvasses that my father made and took great pride in framing afterwards. Though my father died in 2010, Mom continues to have most of my finished pieces displayed in her home.
I hope you enjoyed my painting and learned a little bit about me as well as one of my favorite hobbies!
Thank you for taking time to stop by and visit my blog.
I truly appreciate everyone's continued support!
