Showcase-Sunday: Moving Weird Stuff

avatar

It's Sunday again and I can't wait until saying that doesn't make me think of a crazy chain destroying person that shall remain nameless. Today I dug up these weird animations and to share something that I didn't share the first time I shared these I thought it might interest you where I got the inspiration.

I'm a huge Radiohead and Thom Yorke fan and when I saw this video I really dug the effect. I wanted to experiment with taking some input footage and running it through a bunch of distortion filters to see what I could come up with and the animations you see here are what I came up with.

In the video the effect is much more complex and there are interesting and smooth transitions between the different input footage which makes it all flow together really well, but I liked where what I created was going. Wasn't really trying to do the exact thing, but it's where the idea started.

I've slowed down lately with doing much in my Communities, but I think it's about time to get back to promoting and onboarding as it looks like all the major pieces are in place now on Hive so look out for an official post from the @onchainart account soon.

See you all in the next post!

One of these days I'll need to spend some time learning how to make this kind of stuff. I've been producing digital art for so long by hand, spending almost too many hours on work I feel isn't being seen as much as I want it to be seen, so I'm getting kind of bored of the same old thing.

Well it's definitely fun and different, and while it's not just a few clicks and done, I'd say it is faster than painting something from scratch by hand.

At this point for me drawing and painting can feel a bit like work and this feels more like play, but I think it has to do with what I actually do for work. I suppose if I filled out paperwork and reports all day, drawing and painting would probably feel like play.

I'll be off work for awhile. Everything is supposed to feel like play right now. But it doesn't... LOL!
