A pastel from imagination

This is an expression of a shaken pot overflowing with fresh water covering the whole earth which embodies several scriptural ideas of end-times (shaking of heaven, earth, sea and dry land...), glory, revival, brokenness, healing, outreach, etc, etc.

The recent events that affect the whole world seem to be a pointer to things already predicted in biblical text.

There is a lot of debate on what point in time humanity is at with regards to these events, with some saying it is only the beginning. How I wish things would not get any worse than they are for many people as we speak.

I created this a few years back contemplating these things from scripture. I still think it is as relevant today as it was to me then.

In the course of near-future events, faith seems to be a factor in how decisions are going to be made as the world faces new challenges which are probably going to look like they sprung up all at once.

The signs have always been there, from the growing human population, increased stripping of the earth's ecosystem to access ever-decreasing resources, financial troubles with inflation and printing of money, we could co on till tomorrow!

The current US elections are already showing how faith is playing a role in the manner which people will vote. Even POTUS' Supreme court Judge proposal for office is Catholic, either for political mileage or (perceived) important conservative ideals.

In 2008, The Tony Blair Faith Foundation (it's vision is now part of the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change) was created to "help prevent religious prejudice, conflict and extremism", among other goals. This is someone who saw the potential of religion's influence in the global arena and saw a gap where inter-religious tolerance needs to be fostered.

Currently, the Pope of the Catholic Church is of the opinion that capitalism has failed humanity in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and is proposing a more communal society, a view not many may hold currently.

I'm not sure how deep religion influence will run in society in future, but the presence of all-Islamic states and regions dominated by specific religious and cultural views means it is something we cannot wish away.
