Design Days - Getting back into the "swing" of things...

It has literally been pouring ALL day today. From the time I opened my eyes and even heavier now. It was a "no go" for any kind of outdoor activity, except for that moment when I carried the dog in my arms like a child, through the rain - to a portion of cover where he could and would hopefully do the necessary ablutions. He didn't. Instead, he looked at me like I was completely nuts and then ran straight back inside, lol.

Normally, I love this kind of weather - I have said it often, but with everything unfolding in my life at the moment I admit it left me feeling somewhat emptier than usual... hollow and cold. I did however still manage to scrape it together and spend my hours in a worthwhile manner. Tonight we lit the fire and combined with the rain sheets falling outside it all hit a little harder than I thought it might - but here I am, keeping my sh!t together!

It has been a while since I did any design work for the print on demand sites I normally upload my work to, so today I decided get stuck into that a little. It was a good form of distraction and escape but I was not "truly" feeling very creative if I am honest, so I just decided to work through a few existing designs... most of which had previously had the season of "Fall" in mind and gave them a revamp for warmer and brighter days, as well as just a few other random creations... nothing great - but putting one foot in front of the other is always a better option than standing still. So... moving along swiftly.

Getting back into the "swing" of things...

When I first started designing for print on demand sites, I did a pattern called "Tangerine Dandelion". It has always been a good seller and so I thought it would be a good one to give a seasonal face lift to. The original colour combo was in all honesty not one which appeals to me personally, but I know it is popular with many others so I went ahead with it.

Today I spiced it up a little - or should I say "lightened" and warmed it up!" I was quite pleased with the way it turned out. Colours which work well for Spring, Summer and ALSO Autumn. Definitely a design I would incorporate into my home somewhere... and the "new" name for the face lifted collection, is...

Cherry Polkadot Face Lift

Another design which has proven particularly popular was the cherry pattern I did. I was a little off beat with this original design and actually did the leaves in a borderline blue. The first time I saw a sale go through for this design, I got really nervous haha... I started questioning my decision and the fact that the purchaser may go "why are the leaves blue" haha!!! Thankfully, that did NOT happen - not with ANY of the sales on that design. Everyone that has shared their received product has expressed how happy they are with it... yay, haha!

Anyhoo, I put some thught into "candying" it up a little - give it a little more "pop". The first time around, I was geared more at the cherries themselves - the rich red and then stepping outside the box a little with the leaves on that particular design. This time around I was thinking more about the cherry blossoms on the tree. If you have EVER seen cherry blossoms in all their GLORY on a tree, you will know what I am talking about! So, the same design in essence... but a polar opposite result!

Ocean Retro Face Lift

Ok, last one on the list for this post, although I did do several other designs and revamps today... I did a design way back when which was REALLY well received. It sold mugs, socks, shower curtains haha - you name it! So... I figured, again - another good one to highlight with a fresh coat of paint so to speak. It went from retro to disco, although the genres are not unlike one another... the designs were haha!

So there it is... a little slice of my "design day". I enjoyed it... for the most part. Prefer designing new stuff and even though I did a little of that today, my heart was not really "in it". Currently "riding a wave" - please bear with me. ;)
