Commission #26 Triton of the Abyssal Depths | Digital Art

Hey guys, it's been a couple of weeks since we've seen each other. Did you miss me? I hope so, because I've missed you a lot too, but enough of the preamble, come, read a little about this illustration and admire its creative process.

Finally, I managed to visualize the great library, it's a pity that this a little destroyed and abandoned, in his time must have been very important because of how big and imposing it is, I'm not surprised that because of the jellyfish abandoned made it their home. I keep going and looking at the shelves of maps and myths, I grab one that calls me deeply to analyze its contents, but I quickly discard it. I didn't think this search would take so long, but I have a lot of material and that's what's important.

I look for an island where all the knowledge melts as one and to that one, I mean that it is a point of interaction of all the mythical creatures, even the humans roam and teach us freely. We being creatures with similarities to humans makes me think that our customs can not be different, but I need to find out because our bottom shaped like the tail of a fish makes me doubt everything I know about the different and magic, I want to know many things, I can not stop, the urge leads me to travel and investigate, I hope to find all the answers here in this old library. While that happens I will wait, you mortal can continue reading the magic of my creation for this commission of @smanuels.

Tools:

  • Wacom Intuos 4
  • Medibang Paint
  • Photoshop

-Step 1:

As usual, I started with a hard sketch, with no attempt to define or improve the lines made, since I wouldn't use an outline until the end.

-Step 2:

Then, I added some color to the illustration, giving a dark tone to the sea background and making the silhouettes of the different elements of the scene, all in different layers to be able to work them comfortably.

-Step 3:

Next I detailed the background a bit more, giving darker and less prominent tones, to avoid distracting the viewer's attention. I want that when someone sees the illustration, they are interested at first sight in the brighter elements.

-Step 4:

Almost at the end, I made an adjustment to the dynamics of the scene, modifying the position of the small submarine, I wanted its lighting to be focused on the book that holds the newt. Likewise, I closed the scene's illumination, darkening the edges and avoiding unnecessary detail. The magic of the jellyfish, I made it using the "soft light" and "overlay" fusion modes, I also used them for the light of the mini-submarine.

I'll leave you a little gif with the whole process in it, so you can better appreciate the step by step.

See you in a future post!
