Of course, one doesn't go through life thinking which is the best Hades of all, but if we had to think about it, I'm sure many of us would choose this one: the animated version of Hades in the Disney movie "Hercules".

Yesterday I remembered this character and his characteristic blue fire hair that I like so much, and I couldn't help but want to draw him. That's how I ended up doing this illustration for this occasion, and I don't regret it.

Por supuesto que uno no anda por la vida pensando cuál es el mejor Hades de todos, pero si tuviésemos que pensarlo, estoy seguro de que muchos de nosotros elegiríamos a este: la versión animada de Hades que sale en la película de Disney "Hércules".

Ayer me acordé de este personaje y de su característico cabello de fuego azul que tanto me gusta, y no pude evitar querer dibujarlo. Así fue como terminé haciendo esta ilustración para esta ocasión, y no me arrepiento de ello.

I enjoyed the flames part of this process. Doing those details was fun. But I'm not satisfied with the result of the skin shadows. I don't quite like the way they look. I spent a couple of hours analyzing and modifying these shadows, but I didn't manage to give them a shape that I liked and I gave up. Does anyone know what's wrong with them?

De este proceso disfruté la parte de las flamas. Hacer esos detalles fue entretenido. Pero no me siento satisfecho con el resultado de las sombras de la piel. No me gusta del todo cómo quedaron. Dediqué un par de horas a analizar y modificar estas sombras, pero no logré darles una forma que me gustara y me rendí. ¿Alguien sabe qué está mal con ellas?

I was very relieved to do this part, because I didn't feel very confident about how the illustration was looking (because of the skin shadows), but by adding a little bit of glitter to the flames and then reflecting the ambient light on the other layers, I felt a little bit better because that gave the illustration a nice touch.

Me alivió mucho hacer esta parte, porque no me sentía muy seguro con cómo estaba quedando la ilustración (por lo de las sombras de la piel), pero al agregar un poco de brillo a las flamas y luego reflejar la luz de ambiente en las demás capas, me sentí un poco mejor porque eso le dio un buen toque a la ilustración.

I don't have much to say about this background. I honestly did it to get out of the way, because I didn't want to dedicate myself to making a good background. Sometimes I'm too lazy for backgrounds hehe. Wait, don't stop following me! D':

This is the real image I used as reference hahaha. I thought it was funny to use the bald man at first because the Hades facial expression I made is a little pretentious, like the one in that meme. Tell me in the comments if anyone thought I really used the bald Imhotep as a reference hahaha.

As for the illustration, I think it's great. I'm 80% happy with the result; although it still exceeded my expectations. I was afraid that the character would be left with female facial features, because I've been drawing only women for the last few months; but I think that wasn't the case, and that makes me happy (I'm seriously thinking of drawing only male characters this week...).

Esta es la verdadera imagen que usé como referencia jajaja. Me pareció chistoso usar al calvo al principio porque la expresión facial del Hades que hice está un poco pretenciosa, como la de ese meme. Díganme en los comentarios si alguno creyó que de verdad había usado al calvo Imhotep como referencia jajaja.

En cuanto a la ilustración, me parece que está genial. Estoy un 80% contento con el resultado; aunque igual superó mis expectativas. Tenía miedo de que el personaje me quedara con rasgos faciales femeninos, porque he estado dibujando solo mujeres los últimos meses; pero creo que no fue así, y eso me alegra (estoy pensando seriamente dibujar solo personajes masculinos esta semana...).
