Wednesday Walk - Young Buck, Skunks and Other Critters

Here are a few dusky critters I spotted for this #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay

One of the first critters I spotted on this evening walk was a young buck. His horns still have velvet on them and he caught the glow of the sunset in the weeds.

On a further zoom in I noticed this poor guy was loaded down with ticks. Those black spots all over his face are pretty fat ticks feasting on his blood.

This poor guy needs a cowbird or red-winged blackbird to land on him and clean up the ticks off his face.

Now he is off to get a drink at a shallow lake nearby.

I managed to get an almost airborne shot of him bounding through the

There were loads of rabbits out in the evening as well. These little guys are probably covered in ticks as well.

In the dark of evening I almost stepped on this bullfrog waiting next to an anthill. He didn't budge an inch thinking his green camouflage would keep him well hidden.

Now in the dark of evening we spotted a family of skunks. My zoom lens does terrible in dark light and they ended up blurry.

Oh no they have turned and are galloping right at me!!!

Here is the video proof, one even bumped into my fiance's shoe. Too bad they have to be so stinky.

I see a deer in your picture.
Are they wild deer.
Because in our place very dear.
There are so many irresponsible hunters hunting deer in the forest, now deer in our area are almost hard to find.

These are wild deer, and they are all over the place. Sadly the spread the ticks around that have lymes disease in them.

I've not gotten close enough to our deer to see if they have ticks, but I bet they do. It's a terrible tick year, not cold enough this winter. I wouldn't want to be that close to skunks...

Yeah it must be awful to have so many ticks on you at once without any opposable thumbs to pick them off. They need to go to the bird spa and have them pick them off for them. Skunk enounters have happened quite a bit over here. I nearly stepped on a family of them in the dark on my way back from walking to the store at night, fortunately they didn't spray me then either.
