Wednesday Walk - Old Chicago Walks

Here are a few Chicago shots from my past #wednesdaywalks by @tattoodjay

Now that the plague has hit all major cities I don't work downtown anymore and stay out in the suburbs.

It's nice to remember what the city was like before all the madness. Like on this super cold polar vortex day with an amazing sunset.

Or on this nice summer day looking at the Willis tower.

Most winters are pretty cold downtown and the Chicago river likes to freeze over, it really builds character walking in this kind of weather especially in a windy city.

Here is a typical morning commute shot with lots of other office drones walking quickly to their cubicles.

I used to work in the Wrigley building and could get interesting cloud scraper shots of the Trump building.

The city always had a new color scheme going for each month. I think this purple represents some kind of cancer awareness theme.

Here's a shot between the Langham and the Trump Hotel. The buildings always bend when you try and take panoramas of them.

Here is a nice gloomy fall shot looking off in the distance of where Jussie Smollett staged his hate crime on himself lol what a tool.

This is an early spring shot where the days were still short and it gets dark at 5pm on my way home to the train station.

Who knows if things will ever get back to normal. I might just be featuring suburban #wednesdaywalks from now on.

Hey there @sketch.and.jam, you know how I always love your tours because of the stunning shots that you get of the city, but I tell you what, I think that the 2nd photo on here is the absolute best one of all.

It is absolutely sensational! LOVE IT!

I wish you a 2021 filled with lots of love, health, peace, abundance and joy.
Take care.

Happy new year to you too :-) Maybe in a few months I can go back into Chicago for work again... Though right now is a great time to take apocalyptic photos of the city with no one in it and with everything boarded up from BLM riots. Gotta hide out in suburbia for the time being.

Got a drone....? Perfect time...😃

Knowing my luck there would be a cop lurking in the shadows waiting to give me a ticket for using a drone in the city. I think they are only allowed at the riverwalk in a couple areas. Too many people were spying through the windows of skyscrapers with them.

Kite? 🤣

Haha the winds around here would destroy a kite, unless its one of those industrial ones with two handles. You could almost parasail with those.

Shame!
But are you guys locked into your local areas?

If you are, surely you don't know someone who needs some company that lives in the CBD....?

I have no idea what the people in the chicago business district are doing, most are working from home in the suburbs like me. The lockdown isn't very strict here so many probably went off to different states where things are more normal.

We had a rule over here during lockdown where if you lived by yourself, or knew someone that lived by themselves, that both of you could get a pass to go to visit the lone dweller for their mental health...

Do you guys have residential buildings in your CBD?

There are only a few super rich condo buildings most of it is just offices. Where I live out the suburbs its mostly just houses and things are pretty much normal other than having to wear a mask at all businesses and there's no indoor dining. In downtown chicago all the state buildings check your temperature before entering. Fortunately there are no regulations on visiting other people.

The architecture in Chicago is top notch. Even in the old areas of town you can find interesting classical architecture (just wear a bullet proof vest though cause it's south Chicago lol).

Awesome (not for the bulletproof vest though lol), but seriously, it is packed with interesting architecture. Thank you for taking us on a virtual walk!
