Conquering The Top Of A Mountain

Wednesday is the day when we all have the opportunity to enjoy walks from all over the world through the hive platform. Specifically, there is an initiative called #WednesdayWalk, launched by @tattoodjay, a long time ago. Users from different corners of this small planet post nice details from their walks, so if you want to take at least a virtual walk, feel free to have a look in that community.

I used to participate a lot more a few months ago, but the walks became thinner in my schedule. I am not thinner, though, but the contrary. Searching for some piano scores on my old laptop, I came across some photos we made exactly one decade ago. They were taken on one of the trips we made to the mountains and I have nice memories of that visit.

Our son was still small, but he was up to all the adventures and hiking we made there. When he got tired, we carried him on our shoulders, but I can proudly say that those little feet conquered one top of the hill. The view that awaited us from that height is beautiful, and of course, it was worth the effort to climb there. Even for a little boy. While I’m not sure he would want to do the same trajectory with us now, adolescents have their weird ideas that don’t always match their parents' ideas. But, certainly, this hiking at that moment was the top for that boy and us.

Zlatibor is one of the top destinations in Serbia, although there are other beautiful mountains too, like Tara. We went in summer and could check out that the fresh air at that altitude is priceless. In the cover photo, we see fog because of the very cold morning, and remember, it was summer. The photo was taken from the balcony of the place we rented out and it was early morning.

We enjoyed our holidays there, total tranquillity and calm beautiful landscape. Used to hike around, and one day the destination was the top called Tornik. The altitude is around 1.500 m . While climbing, we had to take several rests, and in one of them, a grasshopper came to my hand. My husband took the photo, while the tiny creature was resting on my palm.

After each short rest, we continued our path to reach finally the goal. The top. The view from there is breathtaking. Other peaks and valleys can be observed, and you don't have to do anything else, just feel your soul with that landscape. We stayed for some hours there, going around. You can imagine our appetite after this hiking, I remember we had a super dinner in one restaurant but it was too much, I think we couldn't finish because of the quantity of food. My husband tried some traditional fried cheese, it was a bit heavy food for dinner.

For that day we finished our walks, it was more than enough. But the next day we went to a nearby lake to spend the day. We didn’t swim there because the water was cold. I know we tried to freshen up in a nearby creek, and our feet froze. So we skipped swimming here too.

Instead of swimming, we had a more interesting activity. The wind was just perfect to fly a kite, so my son was happy to spend the afternoon doing this:

The road called for us to go home slowly, even the moon had already come out to inform us that it was time to leave. But this sunset, as from some other planet, convinced us that every moment spent that summer on the mountain was perfect. Hope you enjoyed this walk, although not just one walk came into this post. Have a great Wednesday everyone!

I used to fly kites with my cousins when I was little. Nice to see kids still do it :)

This was an amazing memory you know, and you are right, I do not think your son would love to go on these walk anymore. But who knows, he could be up for it.

The sunset is nice, and flying kites since you couldn't swim as a result of the cold was a great idea

I love the breathtaking altitude, and I apologise over having to consume so much food

Thanks for sharing this with us

What a nice place! So peaceful with those infinite horizons. Amazing photos and landscape, loving the first with the fog, and the one with the moon, but the last is my favorite. Saludos (;;

That last one is my favorite too.
It was one decade ago we were there, but still I remember it as one of the most tranquil holidays we had :)

I thought Bill was adorable. I just read this morning there's a petition going around demanding the deciding judge's impeachment.

There is still some justice in this world, that is great! Hope the petition will work! :D

Hey there @naradamoon :)

Well, I suppose you have some nice places around your place of living :)
We sometimes dont see how many beautiful places surround us. Just have to discover them!

The travel thing is a bit more difficult now for us too, hopefully we can manage to travel this summer across Europe despite of restrictions (a bit less of them now)

Thank you for stopping by 🤗

Wow, beautiful place and beautiful memories with your family, when your son was a little boy, flaying his kite ✨ Even though he is a teenager now, he surely cherishes the memories of those adventures with you 😊 loved the photo of the grasshopper on your hand! Well, all the photos are amazing 😍

Hola @nataliaeline
Great place and nice memories indeed 😌 The grasshopper was cute, for me. My son was a bit bothered with the grasshoppers🤣 as there were many many of them 😅
Thank you so much for your comment 🤗

Lovely, motivating, and detailed. I am going to do something similar on one of the coming Wednesdays. I remember I took few pictures last July during the Canberra kite flying festival. Great job, great images.
