Wednesday Walk - Derelict Building in the Wood

We had to delay the start to our walk because of the bad weather. After a break in the rain, we finally managed to set off. We'd seen some sort of derelict building on the map, but not sure what it was.

I'm quite curious about things like this. Even though we didn't know what type of building it was, we wanted to find it! It didn't take too long as we stumbled across it in the wood. There was an old stone wall nearby as well. Whether it was part of someone's house I don't know. We couldn't find any information about it but it was still quite cool.

An abundance of fungi and moss was all around the area.

It turned into a two hour walk but thankfully, it was mostly on the flat. Just as well as it was quite difficult under foot. I returned home for a welcome cup of hot chocolate!

These ruins look very old, even ancient! I especially liked the final photo, it very accurately reflects the mood of autumn.

Thank you. We get a lot of random buildings like this. Normally they're cow sheds but this was different.

Lovely. Especially the tree with many trunks.

Ps: I came here because of you-know-who mentioned you in his deranged post :)

"The tree with many trunks" sounds like a country and western song. I like it. Thank you for popping over!

You are welcome. Are you a songwriter? Just do it :)

Have a great day.

Ha ha, no I'm not a songwriter. Can't sing either!

The can't sing part is not a problem as many popular pop stars are proving to us every day.

As for the songwriter ... you can start now ;)

Oh wow, how breathtaking in it's beauty and age!

It has arches, so maybe it really is an ancient place of worship....

If you've got the coordinates, maybe you could use those to search the internet for some info on it's history, something may come up from church records....

And that tree is simply magnificent!

Isn't there a Thursday tree lovers community that you can post these tree photos into?

And the mushooms definitely look magic, which is maybe witches lived there! 😃

We will do a bit of research to see what we can find out. I sometimes post for Tree Tuesday but not sure of any other group. There are lots of walks around there so I will probably be going back. I will look out for the witches!

Oooh I can't wait!

I wish I could go there with you! 😃

Please keep me in the loop, I'd love to know what it was and whether it was used by Robin Hoodians or the Knights of the Round Table or by....witches and their covens...lol...

Lol. I've put a few feelers out but I've got a feeling it's not going to be as interesting as you imagine. It will probably turn out to be a very posh cow shed!
