There are those who assert that the most sacred thing for Spaniards, after the Bible and being considered an eminently Marian country since the High Middle Ages, is that jewel of universal Literature - written by a 'stained' named Miguel de Cervantes , whose life, to this day, is just as hypothetical as that of Christopher Columbus - whose title, 'The adventures of the ingenious hidalgo, Don Quixote de la Mancha', puts wings on the imagination of a people historically ostracized from its own evolution.
[Hay quien asevera, que lo más sagrado para los españoles, después de la Biblia y de ser considerados como un país eminentemente Mariano desde la Alta Edad Media, es esa joya de la Literatura universal –escrita por un ‘manchado’ de nombre Miguel de Cervantes, cuya vida, a día de hoy, nos resulta igual de hipotética que la de Cristóbal Colón- cuyo título, ‘Las aventuras del ingenioso hidalgo, Don Quijote de la Mancha’, pone alas en la imaginación de un pueblo sometido históricamente al ostracismo de su propia evolución].
