3 Moons & 3 Coffees

A COFFEE WALK, OLD FRIENDS AND SUPERSTITION

I could actually have worked in a cafe today if I wanted to. It was a nice day today, reaching 18°C in London, so I decided to go for a longer than usual walk. I went right past my favourite cafe from whence I used to work nearly every day before the virus hit. Outdoor sitting is allowed now, so I really could have gone there with my laptop to get some work done like the old times.

I decided to pop in to grab a cup of coffee and garb a quick chat with my friends that work there. It had been many, many, months since I'd last seen them. It was so good to catch up for the 2-3 minutes while waiting for my coffee to be ready. We even talked a little about Bitcoin.

"Hey, are you paying with that bitcoin thing again?"

I used Revolut and Wirex cards in that cafe in the past and would usually tell them that the money I was paying for with was earned on this blockchain called Steem Hive. It used to blow their minds. It was a way I evangelised the blockchain back when I was super passionate about onboarding people. One of them even signed up but never posted anything.

We had a pretty quick, but interesting, conversation about how since the last time I saw them Bitcoin had gone up 5x. "WHAT?!". Yes replaying the conversation in my head now, I did sound like one of those outlandish adverts on YouTube haha. If I hadn't experienced it, I might not believe it either.

It was nice to hold a hot cup of my favourite "long black" coffee as I embarked on my 1.5 hour walk in the bright sunshine. Yes, there was also a private joke between me and the baristas concerning that ;)

Walking past a picturesque neighbourhood inspired a little bit of photography. It's spring time but the trees in the area are late bloomers. I love the look of bare trees against a clear sky. It's one of my favourite things to photograph. Many years ago I engaged in a project of photographing trees. There was this one tree that I photographed for an entire year, capturing it changing with the seasons. I quite enjoyed the project. I may well create a photo book out of it one day.

The days are getting longer and warmer so I'll be doing this more frequently going forward. Perhaps I will even take my computer out one of these days to do an hour or two in the sun instead of indoors when it's warm enough. Fingers crossed.

To the moon 🌙

Luckily I do have some space at thee back to sit in, so when I got home from my long walk and had a shower, I did just that. I decided to do the rest of the days work out in the sun while catching some much needed vitamin D.

Of course I had my beloved cup of coffee right next to me. I reached to take the first sip when I noticed the reflection of the moon which was directly overhead. It's nearly half-moon and oddly enough, a half moon had also formed and floated delicately on my coffee.

Call it a sign, call it a prophecy :). I'd been seeing moons everywhere all day. My breakfast coffee also formed a moon. Crypto had taken a bit of a nosedive correction two days in a row. I did take advantage of the dip to grab myself a few coins here and there - some experimentally. Is this a sign that my bags are about to moon? Are at least three of my holdings about to take off on a moon mission?

Ok, so I'm not really superstitious in anyway, but I'm sure someone else could have taken these as signs and could have perhaps gone out and taken action accordingly. I don't know, perhaps I should have. Maybe I should have sold my car and bought more Hive with the money?
