What does Step Off or Get Stepped On mean?

(Edited)

I read an article written by @valued-customer titled Step Off or get Stepped On.
When I interpret it because I don't know English well, the sentence seems to mean that people are deceiving and deceiving each other.
I think I misunderstood the article written by @valued-customer. Still, it was clear that @valued-customer opposed Tron's act of acquiring Steemit.
@valued-customer seems to oppose the centralization of Tron, which is inconsistent with the US election, voting system, and stock trading order.

He opposes Tron's centralization and demands a decentralization system. This is due to the belief that the decentralization system guarantees freedom of speech and publication by Steemit.
In fact, America's politics, economy, culture, education and other institutions and ideologies are excellent. However, it is questionable whether the American system and ideas are suitable for East Asia.

The old Japanese man I met said this.
"American democracy and capitalism do not fit the reality of Japan."
"Japan must return to an era ruled by the Japanese emperor!"
During World War II, Japan attempted to conquer China and become an equal empire with the United States. Japan believed that having a vast territory, resources, and population like the United States would make it an equal position with the United States.
To the Japanese, the United States was the emperor who conquered the new continent and the Pacific Ocean.
Modern Japan is a tributary of the Pacific Empire, dominated by the American emperor.

It seems to me that America has two great emperors: Protestant @roleerob and Catholic scholar @valued-customer.
In the United States, the Protestant and Catholic beliefs and ideas form a decentralized system, but a unified empire.
I thought that the half-earth, half-iron kingdom in Daniel may be the United States.
For those living in feudal and imperial East Asia, the United States was a very strange country.
It was mysterious that the United States was born by the alliance of two irreconcilable religions of Protestantism and Catholicism. So, Koreans believe that God or aliens created America.

Let's go back to the main story. China and Japan believe that America's political and economic systems and ideas are unsuitable for East Asia. So, China and Japan demand South Korea to accept their political and economic systems and ideas.
Trump's actions and policies are giving Koreans anxiety and fear that the United States would cannot protect Korea.
Although the United States is stronger than China, the belief that the United States cannot control China eventually spreads to Koreans.

China and Japan are putting pressure on Korea that each other will become the new owner of East Asia. So, China and Japan try to nationalize Korea.
Koreans worry that Trump may give Korea as a subsidiary of either China or Japan for economic benefit.
So, some Koreans insist that it is better for Korea to be an ally that receives Chinese money, as it was 2000 years ago.

@valued-customer's argument is great. However, China and Japan insist to Korea that America's ideas and institutions do not fit the reality of modern East Asia.
So, modern Koreans are struggling in the temptations and threats of China and Japan.

You still oppose the unalienable Rights?

I very much appreciate this post you made. It has given me insight into Korea I did not understand. It is hard for Americans to grasp Korea's reality, between China and Japan, and hoping America keeps them both at bay.

In American slang, 'step off' means to back down from controntation. If someone is threatening violence, you could warn them to 'step off' or you'll hurt them.

Stepped on means to have been completely dominated, as by violence.

Like stepping on an insect.

So, the title of my post is a warning to cease threatening Steem with domination, and a threat that Steem is more powerful than it seems, because our community is much stronger than mere money.

Thanks for your kind words, and this post that helped me to understand Korea better.

My esteemed American senior, thank you for your kind reply.

That's what you meant. I didn't know that.

So, the title of my post is a warning to cease threatening Steem with domination, and a threat that Steem is more powerful than it seems, because our community is much stronger than mere money.

Your friend, the Chinese prince, argues that American political and economic systems and ideas are unsuitable for East Asian reality. Therefore, he claims that China's wealth can buy Korea. However, as you say, the United States will not be bought

@soo.chong163 argues that American political and economic systems and ideas are unsuitable for mankind at all. More fundamentally, he argues that humanity is no more than cattle, to be raised for the profit of husbandmen. He neglects that there are no better men to rule the rest, and the consequences of letting sheep lead wolves are always tragic.

I'll be surprised if Chinese wealth can keep buying China after this summer. Not only have they been hit by SARS2 and shut down most of their economic and industrial production for months, they've been hit be Swine flu and lost more than 70% of their pigs, they've been hit by two different bird flus in the last month and are losing chickens and ducks in terrible plagues.

Now the locusts have entered Xinjiang. It's been a chain of horrible disasters all striking China's agricultural production, and it will be a miracle if starvation doesn't begin to add to the woes of the people of China.

While China may not buy Korea this year, China has other means of gaining clay. It is my sincere hope that in it's desperate need, China doesn't just take what it needs, or try.

Thanks!

I fear China's hostility to the United States.

There's an old saying in America (well, old for America): 'Praise the Lord, and pass the ammunition.'

Smiling @silvergrifin007, in reading this ...

"It seems to me that America has two great emperors: Protestant @roleerob and Catholic scholar @valued-customer."

... as neither of us are emperors. In a nation of ~ 360 million people, we are just two men who enjoy creating content on our Steem blockchain, from time to time. Likely no different than you ...

Interesting to read your perspective of the pressures Korea feels from China and Japan. From a great distance, what I read of the Korean peninsula, the North Koreans are very closely aligned with China, on whom they depend for survival.

The South Koreans, economically speaking, have more reason to be allied with Japan. As much in their own self-interest, it would seem, than anything else. As both parties have reasons to be concerned with the threat posed by North Korea ...

From my perspective, America today is sadly a post-Christian nation, in far too many ways. Much like we read of the nation of Israel in the Old Testament, turning their backs on God in their times of prosperity.

I suspect Korea may be more Christian today than the USA.

Also, I don't see Korea allying with Japan anytime soon. They have history.

You are right. Japan cannot believe because it is not a Christian country like the United States. The reason for the collapse of Solomon's kingdom was the alliance with pagan nations.

This may be @valued-customer.

"I suspect Korea may be more Christian today than the USA."

I am not aware of any information that confirms this, but acknowledge it is possible, given what I have seen of the number of our fellow Americans who identify themselves as Christian.

If you don't mind my asking, do you identify yourself as Christian? As a Catholic, given our Korean friend's references to that? Or?

I don't identify as Catholic, or even Christian, although I find the teaching ascribed to Jesus admirable.

I believe he considers my philosophies as those underlying Catholicism, although you might more profitably ask him.

I have known some Koreans personally, and found they stated Korea had a very strong Christian tradition, and note @silvergrifin007 does as well. I have watched the decline of traditional religions over my lifetime in America, but have not noted that ongoing in Korea. However, I'm not in Korea, so don't really know.

Okay, thank you for your response @valued-customer. It is always interesting to me "in here" on our Steem blockchain, how communication works across the cultural and linguistic barriers we all have to overcome.

As for this ...

"I believe he considers my philosophies as those underlying Catholicism, although you might more profitably ask him."

... he seems to appreciate your perspectives. So ... If there is any confusion about their origins, I'll just leave that with the two of you ...

The President of the United States was elected among Protestants and Catholics. The President of the United States is a citizen in the United States, but is perceived by South Koreans, Chinese, and Japanese as emperors of the American Empire.

Interesting to read your perspective of the pressures Korea feels from China and Japan. From a great distance, what I read of the Korean peninsula, the North Koreans are very closely aligned with China, on whom they depend for survival.

You are right. However, China seduces South Korea by offering enormous economic benefits and territory. In particular, China seduces that if the USFK withdraws from South Korea, China will also give Korea unification.
At the same time, China threatens to have 100 nuclear missiles aimed at South Korea. China said the United States could not block all 100 nuclear missiles.

The South Koreans, economically speaking, have more reason to be allied with Japan. As much in their own self-interest, it would seem, than anything else. As both parties have reasons to be concerned with the threat posed by North Korea ...

Your words are theoretically correct. However, Koreans, especially Christians like me, do not want to be ruled by the pagan state of Japan.
Even the great Protestant Americans @roleerob did not make Japan a Christian nation.

In terms of Korean history, sentiment, diplomacy, military, and economics, the alliance between Korea and Japan is less than profit. In particular, China desperately opposes the Japanese army presence in Korea. It will be angry with China.

I believe that while Korea has a military alliance with the United States, China and Japan must have economic, cultural and diplomatic relations.
