This is my entry to the Storytelling Contest #1

I've never been a popular kid. I am what can be called average: not that many talents, but not completely useless. I go to school every day, take all my classes, and leave school around 6 p.m. My days are as boring as they can be, it's like I'm on a looping program for a boring video game. Maybe that's it. Maybe I'm just a second character in someone's game. Yes, it probably is. Someone must be having a lot of fun right now, while I do things over and over again. As I cursed my own life, going to the bus, I noticed that a group of children were on the other side of the street, all staring at something on the floor. Normally I wouldn't mind this, but all the cool kids were there, and from the expression on their faces, it didn't seem like they were making fun of anyone. nor did they brag about the new shoes they had. Their faces looked like a distortion, something unnatural, something truly extraordinary. Then my eyes dropped to what they were looking at. And never in my wild dreams did I think I would ...

She was a beautiful dog, injured, she looked the most abused and you could see that she was in pain, but the most amazing thing was that there were also some abandoned kittens and this dog, with all her pain, was nursing them regardless of whether they were not of the same breed. , for the others it was something unnatural, disconcerting because they were not dogs but kittens and astonished they commented how strange it was, I removed my bag and caressed this wonderful dog and her eyes showed how needy of support I was, I took my bottle of water and the hydrate, ask them if anyone had any food and to my surprise the popular girl who always disgusts everything, was the one who offered to look for some food, then the nerd boy proceeds to caress her and take her jacket to warm her, while others still watched with a bit of repudiation.

The girl returns with food and milk and that is where we all help with the kittens so that the dog could feed, one of the children began to comment on everything that we have seen lately in the news and social networks and it is with the pandemic that abandonment of pets has been very often, mistreatment the little importance of these wonderful and faithful beings, we all agreed that they are a pleasant company and we did not agree with those who hurt and abandon them, a pet should be part of your family and must be loved, they are so faithful and affectionate that we did not understand how it was possible that they did not feel pain to see them like this in the street, so we decided together to make a small refuge for them and we promised to bring them some of food and water so that it could survive and as time passed some of them adopted the kittens and my family and I kept the dog and a kitten and it was the best decision.

We form a group where we try as much as possible to help those defenseless animals that are alone on the street and we try to campaign on networks so that people become aware of and love their pets just as they come to love and care for their owners.

It was great, this experience brought us together a lot and taught us to be more empathetic with everyone. It was worth going over to see what was happening on the other side of the street.

We cannot always get along, and many times we feel that we do not have qualities, but there circumstances that can lead you to get to know the people around you better and see beyond a face or a nickname generated at school. Seeing across the street taught me to know others and we formed a friendship recording, where we learned to take care of our pets and we agreed for the first time, stories like this with which we will always remember and even as the years go by, we it will unite a beautiful friendship with the same feeling of helping others. Because being empathic with a pet also teaches you to be empathetic with someone who does not have and who does not enjoy certain simple things in life.
