Obelisk of the City of Buenos Aires
It is the greatest emblem of the city, it was inaugurated in 1936 to commemorate the fourth centenary of the first foundation of the city of Buenos Aires and it is located where the national flag of the city was hoisted for the first time.
It was very resisted during its early years, to the point of ordering its demolition, due to its rationalist aesthetics, its location and its measurements. However, today it is one of the main meeting points for political demonstrations and the celebration of sporting achievements.
Es el mayor emblema de la ciudad, fue inaugurado en 1936 para recordar el cuarto centenario de la primera fundación de la ciudad de Buenos Aires y se ubica donde fue izada por primera vez la bandera nacional de la ciudad.
Fue muy resistido durante sus primeros años, a tal punto de ordenarse su demolición, debido a su estética racionalista, su ubicación y sus medidas. Sin embargo, hoy es uno de los principales puntos de reunión de las manifestaciones políticas y del festejo de los logros deportivos.
