Thoughts on a Sleepless Night

avatar

I usually don't have trouble falling asleep but sometimes I have trouble staying there. There are the rare nights where I can sleep for 6 or 7 hours straight but most nights after 3 or 4 hours nature will call. Even on these nights most of the time after I climb back into bed I am able to return to a peaceful sleep. Last night was one of those nights where my brain decided to turn on and not let me return to dreamland. My meager meditation skills were no match for my minds desire to work.

ras-2.jpg

I have had these sleepless episodes throughout most of my adult life (some 40 years). In the past though they were more driven by dread. I would awake and start thinking about some work event or interaction the next day and begin to examine every possible scenario that might happen. Rarely did any of the situations ever turn out as bad as I imagined but that couldn't stop my undisciplined mind from repeating the cycle. I finally made some drastic life choices that led me away from the work environment that caused these types of events. I also began a meditation regimen that helped as well.

The sleepless nights I have now though seem to be of an entirely different origin. I'm not dreading any outcome of the following day but my mind seems to want to understand more. Being retired now I am spending what might be classified as a "work day" reading and learning in the Hive ecosystem. Maybe my brain is experiencing some neural plasticity as I push more of my creative side, read the experiences and ideas of others around the world, and learn more about blockchain technology and crypto. It could be like a construction zone in my brain with new neural networks being built to accommodate all the change and knowledge I am forcing upon it. :)

I won't bore you with all the details but here are a few of the hits from last night.

  • How would a world wide tokenized economy work?
  • Can language affect your perception of reality?
  • Is time actually non-linear?

At least now I have some more things to look into and possibly post about. :)

Thanks for reading and enjoy your day!

Thank you! I am lucky to be in the position I am in and this can be my retirement job. :)

I struggle to scratch the surface! Any insights to share?

I think for me a lot of it was getting out of my comfort zone. When I started Hive in 2018 I was just sharing my photography and a couple lines of text. That evolved into longer stories and then expanding into new subjects and communities. This post I just did I couldn't even imagine writing a few months ago.

Two years ago I got involved in SPI and when I saw they were starting LBI I wanted to jump in. That led to the last 4 months of a lot of Leo Finance engagement and I have never been much of a finance guy. Now I am trying to work on my passive income type investments (Index, Dhedge, EDS, etc.). CubDeFi looks like it has the potential to help me live a more comfortable retirement.

I still have the feeling I am not doing enough though. I think that is the beauty and the curse of blockchain technology. So many new projects and ways of thinking. The future seems limitless sometimes to my mind. :)

My mind sometimes races around like this at night too, but I don't think there's anything wrong with that. It seems it's creativity energy you might to channel into something, unless this energy comes from drinking two cups of coffee every night before you go to bed.

Thanks for sharing!

I agree, I think it is a good thing because it is coming from a place of creativity and not worry (or coffee:)). I'm thinking of starting to pick up my phone and jot down some of the thoughts when these nights happen.

I am also having the last few days having trouble sleeping, however it is due to some personal problems.

About a tokenized economy all over the world, it would be fantastic, even more if it is on the blockchain, with this decreasing the amount of counterfeit bills, contracts without a doubt on how they were signed, and with anyone deciding for themselves which currency they would like to have. There would be no ruler who would lose sleep in the middle of the night and decide that the next day he would print tens of millions more paper money devaluing the currency of his own free will.

I know that seeing some of these points we can see that the problem is politics and the state and not the currency being tokenized or not, but again, the citizen will be freer if he has the option to decide for himself which currency he would like to adopt.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, hope all works out well. :)

Reading one of @taskmaster's posts got me wondering what if most everything had a token in the future. HPTs for 3d house printing, LPTs for land possession rent/own, food tokens, medical tokens, and I think there is arleady a travel token in AVA. Maybe I need to start thinking terms of Satoshi's to get a better idea of the worth of the crypto I own and how they relate to each other. :)

It is going to be interesting to see how things develop over the next few years. Governments and the rich and powerful won't like all of us coming along and trying to change the rules of how we live. Hopefully at some point the movement becomes to big for them to stop and a kind of steamroller effect takes place.

E ai @fireguardian e @wiseagent, vocês tem alguma teoria sobre a primeira questão acerca de como seria uma economia mundialmente tokenizada?

Those are some complex questions to be pondering in bed, that is usually the case though isn't it lol. Glad to hear that you no longer have the sleepless nights from dread and anxiety. I have some issues with drifting off from that but I have found a routine and medication which has helped recently.

It definitely sounds like you made the right decision to switch things up and by the looks of it you are striving in your retirement. What could be better than enjoying the nature around you and getting lost in the wonderful world of crypto?

Most definitely but it does make for some interesting research the following day. :)

The last few years have been some of the happiest of my life. A little scary money wise a few times but I seem to be past that now.

How would a world wide tokenized economy work?

It's complicated to answer that, but I have some more "simple" predictions (like the extermination of banks and the total freedom of people to control their money).

Can language affect your perception of reality?

I don't believe that, because these perceptions are universal and that doesn't change because you read, speak or write in another language.

Is time actually non-linear?

I have many theories about it, but in a simplified way, I believe in parallel realities and what we experience today (here on Earth) is only a small part of an even bigger process.

I heartily agree with that. :)

For the most part I probably agree.

I have many theories about it, but in a simplified way, I believe in parallel realities and what we experience today (here on Earth) is only a small part of an even bigger process.

Again I can agree with this. In this human form I doubt that ayahuasca, DMT or LSD will help me experience non-linear time. Unshackled from the corporeal who knows what we will find. :)

Yes,I think you got a point here. When we get excited about something our brain get's euphoric and it's hard to sleep, thinking about the ramifications of things, how they overlap, link, engage, etc. But at the same time, it is when we sleep that the brain can assimilate better the information, so sometimes is better to take a break before going to bed and focus on other things. I see that you already meditate, that's marvelous of a good night of sleep.

How would a world wide tokenized economy work?

I think people would be more free to follow their calling in life, knowing that is possible to get a reward for doing something they love. And we would have more tribes of financial support, the more people add the more people gain.

Can language affect your perception of reality?

I had a friend who spoke 7 languages, and one thing that he said really got to me: After a while, all things lose their names. Because a chair is a cadeira and is a chaise and also a stuhl and so on. At one point, you lose in your mind what is the name of that thing, it just becomes the thing. So I believe that the language can affect the reality, even more if we enter the world of magic practices or power affirmations.

Is time actually non-linear?

Yep. I believe time is actually circular. Everything comes in cycles. But there is an old Andean teaching that says that is the past that builds the future, not the other way around. When you fully understand that (which i haven't) time becomes something else.

I saw in another post that you talked about DMT and Ayahuasca. From personal experience I can say that yes, with the practice you can expand you conscious to other planes of existence, other time lines and other reality. But the most crazy thing is that you also can do that without it. The DMT is the tool, but you are the portal.

Thanks for sharing, It was lovely to reflect on all this points! And thank you @vempromundo for tagging me here!

I knew that you would have a lot to add, about the time being in cycles I agree, last year I watched a play that said next to that, that life were cyclic cycles.

Very true. I would struggle with a problem at work one day, come back the next and the answer was obvious.

I think people would be more free to follow their calling in life, knowing that is possible to get a reward for doing something they love. And we would have more tribes of financial support, the more people add the more people gain.

Well said. People doing what they love and not having to worry about having basic necessities met would make for a much better world.

you lose in your mind what is the name of that thing, it just becomes the thing.

Yep. I believe time is actually circular.

Very interesting take on those two subjects. I'll probably lay awake thinking about them tonight. ;)

I haven't experienced ayahuasca or DMT. I have some personal experiences with LSD and psilocybin but it was years ago and I probably wasn't in the right frame of mind or looking for the type of journey you explain. When I started meditating 10 years ago I was also reading a lot about shamanism, mysticism and spirituality. While I still meditate I'm not as hard core about it as I once was. I'm thinking I might want to start a return down that path.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. I'm glad I made this post as the replies have given me a lot to think about and perhaps make a few changes. :)

Awesome! Now a days I'm really into guided meditations, that help me visualize better what I want to experience. And also do some meditations with a drum.
And I totally understand experiencing LSD and psilocybin but not with the right frame of mind. I could expand my conscious but it was very hard to stay focused for me. Or I was too focused and forgot about what was the point in it.
I'm really glad you shared this. Many good insights! Thanks again!

Yeah, I started with guided meditations from Youtube. I probably need to get back to that. I think I had more focus and better visualization like you said.

Forgot I bought a drum at a garage sale a couple years ago. Need to drag that out also and finally give it a try.

I'm full of good intentions I don't always follow through on. lol.

Thanks to you also! :)
