The Emperor's invisible crown

(Edited)

For the proof of brain word of the week, I thought of doing original poetry. It is about how ego grows from a child to a grown up and how nature disdains it. Also there in a little word play.

The baby saw a sharp beaked bird,
"Look mom! isn't that an ego?"
The eagle ignored and flew away
but the baby had found his prey.

The baby absorbed the world around,
the body grew up but the head swelled,
A human with a heady burden was born
coveting the crown many had worn.

The human called it confidence,
but it was a con against him.
He held his head too high,
believing the greatest lie.

Just when he thought his glory
was shinier than the others
the eagle swooped down,
and pooped on his crown.

Thank you for sharing your poetry. Reading the style makes me feel like a painting is being etched in my mind.

Writing this poem (which is quite nice) brought a good panorama to talk about this word. Animals and Humans aren't all that different (in this respect) after all.

Thanks initially I thought that animals should be free of ego but there is a certain pride that they possess too
