"New" way to start a habit/hobby?

avatar

I really want a (new) hobby.

(While I write this, I will introduce a new hobby(habit) where I just want to write for like 2 minutes)

I have been lacking a produtive hobby for a while now. When I come from work all I do is turn on my xomputer and sit in front of it until I am going to bed (I do also cook food) and its getting fking boring real fking fast. So I have decided to change this!
There is an unlimited amount of things I could do instead which I don't do. So I will start by writing something everyday for 2 minutes for Hive. I don't have to post it at all, I just have to start it and it can then sit in my drafts for as long as it wants.

Secondly, I want to start learning a new language, I am thinking about starting Spanish to begin with and also only practice for 2 minutes a day.

(The beauty of only committing to 2 minutes a day is that there isn't any pressure on you which is amazing! Also mosy of the time you will automatic continue aftef the 2 minutes since you are already doing it :p)

I still need to find a "good" platform for learning languages compared to Duolingo x) I have done a small amount of research of these platforms, but I need to dig deeper into each one of them.

You don't need a new hobby. You need a new hobbit!

For language I use Drops. It's based on only learninh 5 minutes per day. Helped me at least getting into it. Which languages you want to learn?

Spanish..
But isn't Drops just like Duolingo?

It kinda is.
But the way it tries to teach you with the "5 mins" helps a lot to maintain a habit :) That's why i suggested it. Duolingo never catched me :)

My problem is that duolingo is shit and does only teach you "words" and not how to speak a langauge.
Grammer is kinda useless in the begining since I just wamts to speak and understand, not write :p

I think that the best "platform" to learn a foreign language is to watch movies and TV series (at first with subtitles) in that language that you would like to learn.

I write this from experience. This is how I learned English. And also video games and books.

And English is very far from my language (Hungarian).
English is Indo-European, while Hungarian is Uralic.

By the way, you are getting more and more close to 10 000 Hive power.

Congratulations and good luck both with your goal (10K HP before 2022) and also with the Spanish learning.

I give you some !PIZZA.

Have a nice day. All the best.

Maybe. But I really don't understand much Spanish. I do know of more efficient ways to learn, its just harder in the beginning since there isn't a "guide" or "structure" to it.

But there is a course on https://brighttrip.com/course/language/ for $125 which would properly be the best way to go around x)

After you quoted, I realized that I made a huge typo in my comment above.

I wrote that "I think that the best "platform" to learn a foreign language is not watch movies and TV series", while I wanted to write that "I think that the best "platform" to learn a foreign language is to watch movies and TV series".

This is the visible tiredness from my side. I should go to sleep now.

Edit: I also learned English in middle school. Maybe it best to learn the basic with a teacher and with student books, then the rest will come automatically.
