Red Currant

Hello, friends.

I have already told you about honeysuckle, about garden strawberries and about raspberries, which we have grown in our garden and have already collected. There are still strawberries in the beds, but much less than there were.
Now I want to tell you about red currant.

We have 2 bushes of this berry growing. Every year there are a lot of berries on them. But last year we almost did not collect red currants. This year, my mother has already put a plate of berries on the table 3 times. And we ate them with great pleasure. Probably, the abundance of sunlight this year made this currant absolutely not sour. Usually the berries are quite sour.

Not all people eat this berry. Just because of its sourness. We used to cook even compotes from red currants. Now we are making a similar compote paired with gooseberries. I think that it will also begin to mature soon.

What is good or bad about this berry?
Red currant and its products are useful for the treatment of diseases associated with blood and blood vessels. This berry also reduces blood pressure. Garnet has approximately the same effect on the human circulatory system.
Red currants contain a large amount of vitamin C and vitamin A, as well as several other types of useful acids, as well as minerals. In addition, berries contain beta-carotene and antioxidants that resist cancer cells.
I will say more - all berries have vitamins and minerals useful for the human body. In the summer, you should try to eat more natural vitamins - berries, fruits, vegetables. This will help us to endure the long winter time.

Do you know a bear? Bears are very fond of eating different berries. You can't build up fat on berries, but berries help the metabolism. And the bear has no time to eat in winter, he sleeps until spring. And he needs a supply of vitamins for this time.

As a child, I ate berries directly from the bush. I still do it now, but at that time I just sat down by the bush and ate all the berries in a row. Even the unripe greens. Apparently there was such a need for acid to the body. Yesterday I was driving the son of a girl I know and he told me that he likes everything sour - lemon, red currant, unripe gooseberries. And I ate all this as a child and my older sons. And my daughters don't eat this. Maybe this is a property of a growing young male body?
Now I pour a little sugar over the berries. Although this year the acid in the berries is not felt at all. The wife takes red currants to work and eats them for lunch. No sugar. She can't eat sugar.

And what berries do you like the most?
