Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Life around us is changing, and it happens that we do not immediately notice it. I learned about stand up paddle surfing last summer. I used to think that boards exist only to catch a wave. But it turned out that you can pick up a paddle and move towards the sun up the river.

SUP has been considered a outdoor sporting activity since 2013, and there are several varieties of using the board: unhurried walks on flat water, speed surfing, rafting on a rough river with overcoming rapids and others.

From the side it seems that athletes simply stand on the board, exposing their faces to the sun's rays. But they move against the current, and the current in the Neva River is strong. Probably moving on the board is not as easy as it seems from the outside.

The speed of movement on the board against the current is not very high. I walked and easily overtook this group of surfers. But I believe that if the movement went in the opposite direction, the result would be different.

I’m trying to feel whether I would like this kind of sport, or will a walk in a regular boat bring more pleasure? It’s hard to decide. If I do not try, do not find out the answer.

Have you done it? Looks so fun! The advantage for me is that I could store the board in my apartment; can't do that with a boat!

I just watched, didn’t try yet :)
I didn’t think about such an advantage, but it is really important.
