My Covid19 Confinement Experience part 1

(Edited)

Good day guys!
I just want to share my experience when I was confined because of Covid 19 last September to October

During my first day of confinement I slept at the watchers bed, and I woke up because the nurses briefed me that I shouldn't go out of my room and if I needed anything I should just press the buzzer. After a while they took my vital signs and brought me my breakfast. And a resident Doctor came in and asked how I was doing and auscultated my back.

After that a nurse came and brought me my breakfast. Before getting infected by COVID 19 I was intermittent fasting wherein I fast for 16 hours and the remaining 8 that's when I eat. My fasting windows was from 8 pm to 12 pm the next day. That's when I decided to take photos of all the food that they are going to serve me during my whole stay at the hospital. All of the food that I got from there came with a paper box and a plastic spork. As soon as I got it I was wondering what was inside.

When I opened it, it was burger and fries and in my mind I was like questioning it. My whole life here, I never had this for breakfast. The taste was okay, though the fries were already cold. Kinda sucked I didn't have anything to heat it with.

Before leaving the house for the hospital, my mom packed me a lot of different kinds of vitamins like vitamin C and D, Zinc, Fish oil and multivitamins I always drink it after having breakfast.

Before having lunch my attending Doctor came and she explained to me that my x-ray showed that I had Moderate Pneumonia. Though she said that it didn't affect my lungs too much. The only good thing of having moderate Pneumonia was that I would be compensated by my health Insurance. But the catch was that I had to undergo Antibiotics thru and ivy for 3 days before switching it to tablets.

My brother and sister in law left me snacks for the duration of my stay in the hospital.

A nurse came in and brought my food. When I opened it it was just beans and rice and I was wondering what was the Viand. I sent that photo to my family in our group chat and they were pitying and asking if that was my only food but I showed them the full photo afterwards.
image.png

The viand was in the cup. If I'm not mistaken this cup of soup is called Lomo-lomo. This dish main ingredient was pork. They made it really flavorful and I loved the taste of it. They also gave Lanzones/ Langsat for dessert I really enjoyed eating this meal. The Lomo lomo had a distinct smell even when I threw the container in the garbage can.

After eating my meal, the nurse came in. She was really kind asking how I was and how I was doing. She came with all these things so she could insert an IV catheter for the antibiotics that I took. I remember the last time I used an IV was during grade school.

image.png

The first thing that the nurse did was to put a tourniquet and I was instructed to close and open my hand so my veins would come out. The nurse was really excited because my veins were popping out. An then she inserted the IV catheter on my vein.
image.png
To be honest I really don't like the though of getting pierced by a needle lately but these are the times when we should trust the professionals on what they are doing. My nurse was successful in inserting it.
image.png
She was actually proud after inserting it and then she signed it. She flushed it with saline solution and She then connected the IV catheter to the IV with antibiotics. image.png
It was my first time to take antibiotics through an IV. The nurse gave me a heads up about the burning sensation where it would pass through. There was really a burning sensation, and in my mind I was like "So this is how a patient feels like whenever he/ she goes through an antibiotic".
image.png
There was a little back flow after a while. The antibiotic finished after around 2 hours. After that the nurse removed the IV so I could move freely but my lock was still there. I had to go through this for 3 days straight.
image.png

Dinner time came and this was what they served me. Shrimp and fried Eggplant. I was never expecting to be served shrimp during my stay there. I really enjoyed feasting on this.

This was one of the medicine that I took. They gave this to me for my clogged nose.

This is the page of the government in our City. They usually post the people who are Covid Positive. The first person in the list is me. The S means symptomatic. This was making me think where did I get this virus from? From time to time I still think of it. I've been also thinking about my family, girlfriend and other colleagues who has been exposed to me. To make matters worse, one of my colleagues tested positive also but he was asymptomatic, so he just had to home quarantine.

image.png

Before sleeping I noticed that there was a trail of ants in the room that I'm staying in and the trail led to the garbage.

image.png

There were so much ants, I sprayed them with alcohol. I then took photos of them using a macro lens.
image.png
I tried sleeping in the hospital bed that night. It was really difficult to sleep because I was looking for the most comfortable position so that I can breathe easily. One thing that I hated was the nasal congestion. I slept on my belly because that's what one of my cousins suggested.

During the Second day.
I woke up again from the nurses taking my Vital signs and asking my water intake and urine output. And afterwards a resident Doctor auscultating my chest and asking if I feel anything different. I actually did, I lost my sense of smell. Because I noticed when I'm spraying alcohol on my hands, the alcohol didn't have a strong smell. I also smelled my bath soap and I couldn't smell the minty smell. The distince smell coming from the Lomo Lomo from the garbage was gone, that's how I actually confirmed that I didn't have the sense of smell anymore. The nurse gave me my breakfast and this was the breakfast that I was expecting during the first day.
image.png
They gave me fried rice, scrambled egg, a tomato and tuyo(Dried Fish).
image.png
It also came with Papaya for dessert. I enjoyed eating this breakfast compared to yesterdays.
image.png
At around 9 am, the nurse came to give me my antibiotic.

image.png

I also felt some side effects from it, wherein I always felt so dehydrated. It's a good thing that I was able to download anime and some movies during my quarantine because I wouldn't know what to do the whole day.
image.png
This was what I had for lunch. Stir Fried Beef, Noodles, Soup, Rice and an Apple. I was shocked and thankful because they added extra rice.

image.png

This was my dinner, mongo sprouts, stir fried beef, rice and gelatin. I just wished that they separated the gelatin from the rice haha. During the evening, I had to follow up the contact tracing team because already contacted my family. they never messaged my girlfriend about it. Though the Doctor said that she'll inform their district. Before going to bed I usually video chat with my family and girlfriend.

I shall continue writing about my journey in the future
