Ant - Man 2: review

Ant-Man made his debut at Marvel Cinematic Univers about 3 years ago with a feature film dedicated to him. He later participated in the Civil War where he supported the so-called Cap team alongside Captain America.
We find him at home, under house arrest, under surveillance and away from the much loved nanotechnology and the Pym - Van Dyke couple. The Sokovia agreements were violated in Germany during the civil war and now Ant-Man represents a threat and is therefore confined in the house next to his little daughter.
We find him on the eve of the end of his nightmare and far away from his collaborators who are currently on the run because of the hunt of the authorities for them, accused of having helped Ant-Man to be Ant-Man.
Paul Rudd takes the clothes of the ant man, Michael Douglas those of Professor Henry Pym and the beautiful Evangeline Lilly those of Nadia.

Marvel has been able to create an expanded universe clamorously coherent and clamorously rich in references, details and storylines over the last 10 years. A successful 360° operation thanks to the skillful marketing move around each film and the skillful behind-the-scenes directing of Kevin Feige and his collaborators.
In terms of tone, Marvel has managed to create a very recognizable style for which every movie, Marvel TV series is full of humor and lightness that is common to all products in this universe.
Just take Iron Man's Tony Stark up to the excess represented by the Guardians of the Galaxy to understand how much lightness, the good one, pervades these products.
Paul Rudd and his Ant-Man continue in this direction and this second chapter of the ant man is a succession of jokes, references and winks always made on the edge of subtle irony, of the almost English style joke, never too much and never over the top. This background tone allows you to hide any holes in the screenplay or plots a little weaker and entertain the audience.

Ant-Man's vision makes us rediscover the charm of entertainment and makes us understand its limits.
In this film the plot is quite weak and secondary, we try to recover from the quantum kingdom Diana's mother, who ended up there 30 years before and has been imprisoned for years.
There is no real villain. We never feel a real danger and there is no Thanos of the situation to make us tremble.
There are no revolutionary special effects but a lot of great classic and well used effects.
There are no Hollywood stars as loud as on other occasions.
Everything would suggest the film's failure and instead...
Ant-Man works instead.
It works because it can give 2 hours of healthy entertainment.
It works because time goes by at an embarrassing rate.
It works because the gags and the metatextual connections are valuable.
It works because it is a pure Marvel movie without too many frills and too many dramatic references that in other movies of the universe we have pleasantly admired.
It works because the actors are partly and above all they seem to be familiar.
It works because the post credits scene is a very clear reference to the ending of Infinity War and makes you dream, hope and create expectation.
It works because from today Ant-Man is a bit more Ant-Man, a bit more part of this immense family that Marvel has created and will continue to create while waiting for the debut of the first superheroine to which will be dedicated an entire film (Captain Marvel) and the second and final part of Infinity War.
