Hive Creative Contest - My Promise

For this week @zord189 asks us to share a photo and tell the story behind it, for which I chose a photo of my ecclesiastical marriage since to get to that moment we had to overcome many obstacles.

I met my wife when I started university, she was 19 years old and I was 21 years old, that day I arrived early to the classroom, in a few minutes she came and greeted me with a big smile, I was immediately attracted to her. After that day we were inseparable and soon we started dating, we made sure to have the same teacher and the same schedule to be able to study together. We even did the internships and the thesis together, and as expected we also graduated the same day.

After graduating and getting a job, we got married and after two years our daughter Raquel was born, we were very happy. But nine years after the birth of our daughter, my wife became sick, she had cancer and my world fell apart, I couldn't fathom the idea of losing her. We had very difficult moments and I asked my wife to get married in the church after she finished the chemotherapies, we made a promise to the Virgin of Chiquinquira, patron saint of my state Zulia and to whom I have great faith.

At the end of the chemo and after carrying out some tests, the doctor told us that she no longer had cancer, we hugged each other and wept with joy. We went to the church where the image of the Virgin of Chiquinquira was, to thank her for the miracle of her healing and we requested a date for the wedding.

It is worth noting that in order to marry in that church you have to ask for the day one year in advance due to the number of couples who want to get married there, however, the day we went a couple had canceled and they told us that there was a day available within two weeks, it seemed like a miracle and we accepted.

Without much planning and with many desires to marry on December 27, 2008 we joined in marriage in the eyes of God. My wife was not wearing a wedding dress, we did not have time to buy it, she dressed in a borrowed skirt and blouse, but she looked beautiful and had a great smile.

Only some relatives attended to witness our union, we had passed many tests and at that moment I fulfilled my promise before the Virgin.
