Until the Last Man .:. One to rule them ALL

I don't know why, but I remember one important lesson from Psychology that I have learned in my University days and it was talking about the "needs" of humans... I will probably miss the exact words as I learned that in my native language, but, in a nutshell, it was talking about the WHY for different groups of people...

Yes, we are different, and everyone has their OWN WHY, but if we look at the bigger picture, those "why's" can be shrunk into just a couple of categories... The WHY is very often the thing that motivates us or inspiring us to keep doing what we are doing... It can be positive, it can be negative, but it's the "source" of our actions...

I probably remember well that lesson, as I tried to fit myself in one of these types... Also, when I met a successful person, I tend to think in which category would it fit...

So, some of the types of motivation are:

  • Reward/incentive... People do something to get a reward... Usually, it is in form of money, and I would say that this category would be maybe the one that has the most "short-term look", and it can't last too long because of that

  • Achievement... This can be treated maybe as a mid-term motivation... I would compare this with our long-term goals... We create them and try to reach them... The problem (or solution) is when we get there... And accomplish our goals... What then? Creating new ones, and do it again...

  • Growth... This is a nice one... We are doing things that make us grow like a person... Trying to be better every next day is an important thing, but it's important also how to measure that...

  • Power... This one says a lot... and I would say that it can be the most dangerous for the sanity of the person... Power is a tricky thing as it has no limits, and because of that, it is very often compared with greed... And this was the main topic of the video that you have in front of you... Check it out...

There are other motivation types, but I do remember these... If you Google it, you will find different theories and categorizations...

Thank you for your valuable time,

I see a part of me in all of these, including reward and incentive and achieving this through growth.
Growth is the only thing that really matters in my opinion, and all other things like money, power and achievements will follow automatically.
Focus on growth. :)

Agree with you... Actually, I was thinking about this today... again... lol... When we are children, we don't think too much about consequences, about what is right, or what is wrong... I mean, we live innocently, but still, we slowly form our personality, and very often, with having a bad role-models, not in a good way...

As we became adults, we try to evaluate things more and try to make ourselves better... I mean, those who work on themselves... That involves "repairing" bad behaviors from the past and doing new things differently... That's what is growth, in my opinion...

And, in the end, as you said, it leads to good things... maybe money, maybe power, but peace of mind, for sure... and better living... ;)

This is why having fun and relaxing every now and then is important as well.
Because this keeps our inner-child and the perspective that goes with it alive.

To get out from shadow calls for action and motivation. Most people go with the flow and herd. Actually many have accepted defeat before trying.

Exactly, all of these types of motivations lead to taking action... Without motivation, there is no action... But not all "sources of motivation" are right as some of them aren't "healthy" for their surroundings...

I know very well what you are talking about. My wife comes from Turkey and I've visited this country about 2 to 3 times per year for the last 20 years. I saw how a so called democracy was under the thumb of one person. It changed life and the liberty of people. It was at a slow and steady change but it was visible and nowadays there is almost no freedom of speech in this country anymore. People are scared to post stuff on social media and there is a huge tension within the population. It's all either with him or against him and it's quite sad to see...

I'm not familiar with the situation in Turkey, except for my knowledge from news, documentaries, etc... which is probably wrong, like usually...

I suppose that the president did a lot in "changing" Turkey into a modern country, but it looks that it was until a certain point... and it usually is like that... Some of the leaders (or rulers) do good things for the people and country at the beginning, and when they feel the power under their fingers, everything changes, and it becomes a tyranny...

Yes, what you say is about spot on. In the first years, they built roads and infrastructure but then it went steadily downhill. Medias were censored and closed. Rights were limited,...

The rulers or people in power want to control everything. If someone does something different and that goes against them, they will do everything to stop him/her out of fear. We see the same picture more or less everywhere. The rulers do not let the blockchain do its thing easily because it will take away their power and put it in hands of general people. But it will happen sooner or later and we will see a shift.

Exactly! They tried to stop Bitcoin for a decade, but they didn't succeed... And transparency on the blockchain is the main problem for governments all around the globe... As all their dirty business would be visible... The blockchain tech can't be stopped, but they can create something similar, and present it like a "better solution"... We will see what happens...
