DIY WIG - See how I made this wig

avatar

Hello everyone, happy new week....
I know I blog about art a lot but I didn't have time to draw today, I was busy with a wig so I decided that I was going to make a post about it. Apart from art, another thing I enjoy doing is making wigs for both personal use and for sale.

I made this one today for myself and I'll tell you how it was made with the pictures I could capture.

Items needed
A wig cap
Thread
Needles
Mannequin head
Scissors
Hair bundles

I wore the net wig cap on the head of the mannequin, there's a strap at the end of the wig cap just to make sure it's secure and tight. I added thread to my needles, I used 5 needles, you can use one if you wish, I just didn't want to keep stopping to add thread when I run out of it. On the right side of the picture is the closure, it's always placed on middle part of head.

I sewed the closure on the wig cap and made sure it was tight enough, I held the closure together with a band so it won't cover the other parts of the cap and interrupt my sewing process. Once this was done, I started sewing from one end of the cap to the other as you can see in the pictures below. I started from the bottom to meet the closure.

I continued till I got to the top where the closure was and I tied the thread very tight and took out the needles.

This is the finished wig, when I was done, the rubber band was taken out and I brushed the closure together with the rest of the wig. I also found out it was way too long when I tried it on, I felt very uncomfortable and sweaty so I decided to trim it a little from the bottom.

This is the back view and the side view, wigs like this can last for years depending on how you use it, I have some I've used to 3years and they are still in good condition.

Thanks for reading my blog, have a wonderful week.
Cheers
