AN ART FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

A few days back, I stumbled on some artworks on Instagram about breast cancer so I made an art to create awareness for breast cancer and I enjoyed doing it.
Did you know that October is officially the breast cancer awareness month?
Did you also know that the pink ribbon is an international symbol of breast cancer awareness? These ribbons are worn to show moral support to the heroes fighting breast cancer.
Now you know.

"Whether you’re a mother or father, or a husband or a son, or a niece or nephew or uncle, breast cancer doesn’t discriminate.” – Stephanie McMahon

In this month, there is usually an increase in awareness, help and support for breast cancer. According to world health organisation, there is limited knowledge for the causes of breast cancer and the best control is always early detection. When it's detected early, the victim has a good chance of getting cured.

Breast cancer mostly affect women but men can get it too, they also have the kind of tissue that can develop breast cancer.

It is advised to engage in breast self- exam which is basically examining your breast and checking for lumps regularly.

How to breast self exam
Step 1
With your arms on your hips and shoulders straight, look closely at your breast in the mirror. Check if;
Your nipple has changed position or has pushed inwards
There is a redness, sore, bulge or rash around your breast

Step 2
While looking at the mirror, raise your hands straight above your head and check for any of the changes listed above.

Step 3
Lie down on you back and feel your breast with your hands. Use the right hand to feel the left breast, also use the left hand to feel the right breast. Go in circular and vertical motion, side to side, top to bottom, feel the entire breast. Start slowly and apply little pressure as you go. Most people find it convenient when their breast is wet or damp so apply little water and examine your breasts.

If you practise this constantly, it will be easier for you to see changes when they come. If you feel a lump, don't panic, not all lumps are related to breast cancer. Just visit your doctor and you'll be fine.

What does a cancer lump feel like?
It's round, could be hard or soft, tender and occurs anywhere around the breast, most common area is the upper outer part of the breast, some lumps comes with pain.

My dears,
Cancer is tough, but you're tougher

Together, we will beat Cancer and win.
Good morning and stay healthy

I've been overwhelmed with inktober and halloween month forgetting that this month is for breast cancer. Thanks for the wonderful artwork and the reminder.
