MY FAVOURITE TEA DURING RAMADAN

avatar

Hi and hello to the world! Today is the first day of Ramadan for all Muslims. Since I'm here in Saudi Arabia, I'm also with my employer's fasting.

May I share a little bit about fasting during Ramadan.

Living here for 22 years, I had got all the ideas of how they spend Ramadan moments.

Last night was the first night of Ramadan. After the sunset, they wait for an hour, the announcement of the crescent of the moon, the first day of Ramadan to consider. It is also the sign of the first day of the month. Ramadan is the 10th month of Hijrah Calendar, it us base on the first crescent of the moon. It will be announced on the national tv channel when they saw it and start the first night of Ramadan.

After hearing the news, they will be greeting each other a Ramadan Mubarak to all members of the family and friends by phone. Supposed to be, we are expecting some visitors but so sorry for this time of quarantine, they can't go and no one can come at home.

Last night, all the family members pray together. Supposed to be they pray in the nearby mosque outside the house but now they allowed to pray at home because of social distancing policy.

After praying, I served them tea and coffee.

Then, I'm busy making food. We have to eat at dawn before the sunrise. Then drink a glass of tea,a lot of water, and pray after the sunrise.

They will sleep until 11:00 am or 12:00 am and pray for the noon prayer. They read the Quran until 3:30 pm and pray for the afternoon prayer. They may sleep or help me cook food for breaking the fast after the sunset.

After breaking the fast, we pray for the night prayer and after that, the tea and coffee must be already on the table for the family to share with. They watch tv, playing or something else.

We never eat and drink water after the sunrise until the sunset.

This time, I'm the only one waking up to prepare all that we need for food.

Mint leaves and Sumatra leaves infusion

I can make a tea out of pure mint leaves infusion.

There's another leaf called Sumatra leaves. It is also good for tea.

I have a lemon tree outside the house and we just pick some if we need it for the tea infusion. It has a very good aroma.

I have also oregano that is also possible for our tea.

The best for me is the lemongrass which helps me fir my high blood pressure. When I drink its an infusion, all headaches will go forever.

The moringa tree is also the best for tea. And I have all the organic herbs in my garden.

The natural organic herbs I planted in the garden of my employer's house help me healthy and fit to do all my daily household tasks. Special mention to @naturalmedicine, here's my natural way of living in the desert. It is a desert but I made it not a wasteland.

Thank you @mablely for the very good theme this week. I'm always late and sometimes forgot it but it doesn't mean I forgot you, dear.

@porters here on behalf of @NaturalMedicine – Thank-you for sharing how you celebrate Ramadan - it is something I am not familiar with! Wonderful that you have those fresh herbs in your garden - handy for picking!

Happy fasting @olivia08! When did you start fasting with your employer? It is a purifying experience for the body, mind and soul.
Thank you for sharing the different tea infusions. May I ask, how do you infuse oregano and mint leaves? Do you dry them first and then once they are dry, we add hot water to the leaves? I have lots of oregano and mint leaves but am not sure how to use them :D

The best way for oregano is to boil it fresh. Some friends of, they dry it first but I love it when it's fresh and bring it to boil for 10 minutes.

Mint green does the same way, it's also good when it will be boiled fresh. Since I have no mint leaves in my garden, we bought some and let it air dry. We could preserve it and consumed it for a number of days.

Do you know that I'm wrong about posting about tea. I think it is not your theme. I was just a little bit confused. I realized it later after I had been posting already.

Thank you @marblely.
