Had to drive around the city today again. Here's what I got.

The last few were taken at about five. The length of day is clearly getting longer.

That statue is of Marshall Mannerheim who was the Commander in Chief of the armed forces during WW II as well as the leader of the White Guard during the civil war in 1918. That makes him a controversial figure particularly in this city because after the civil war, there were two large prison camps here where a lot of Red Guardsmen and women lost their lives. That the statue is where it is - right in front of the railway station - is indicative of the total loss of the Reds here. In contrast, in Tampere where the large Battle of Tampere was fought in the civil war, the left leaning folks were influential enough to have caused Mannerheim's statue to be erected in one of the outer suburbs.
