Jonen Grilli is a kiosk that has served the local specialty lihamuki (meat mug) the longest as far as I know. A lihamuki is simply kebab meat in a cardboard cup with some sauce thrown in. For people going home from a bar in the wee hours of the night, this sort of nourishment is optimal. Lahti is an industrial city and industrial workers and their tastes have a lot of influence on the local popular culture. To be honest, there are some high brow elements to the culture of the city as well. The local symphony orchestra is a well-respected one. There is also an institute for industrial design in the city.
