That large concrete structure is the roof of a tunnel for the new bypass road. There used to be a football field right there. The entire hill was dug open and the tunnel was constructed. It will be covered with land again. The football field will be rebuilt. A road like the one I'm on will be above both ends of the tunnel. How will they keep any balls from landing on the cars exiting or entering the tunnel? They will be doing 100 km/h. An accidental football landing on the windscreen at that speed is no laughing matter.

This house is about 50 m from the bypass road. The people of this area fought the bypass road for 50 years. Nimbyism at its best. That particular house is so new that its builders must have known what's coming, though.

This area is a typical one built in the 1950's.

That one could be a single family home or built for two. Typical 1950's architecture.

Taken in the city center. One of the iconic old and obsolete radio towers in the distance. That very small balcony on the side of the yellow house is a telltale sign that the building was built in the 1950's.

I dialed down the color saturation substantially without making this a black and white image. What do you think?
