Sugar Free Chocolate Fudge

(Edited)

Sugar-free chocolate fudge can be a healthier alternative to traditional fudge, using natural sweeteners or sugar substitutes to create a rich and creamy dessert. This recipe provides a sugar-free option that doesn't compromise on taste or texture. You can enjoy this guilt-free treat knowing it's lower in sugar but still full of chocolaty goodness.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar-free sweetener (like erythritone, xylitol, or stevia)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened almond butter or peanut butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Optional Mix-ins

  • Chopped nuts (like almonds, walnuts, or pecans)
  • Sugar-free chocolate chips
  • Unsweetened shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Melt the Coconut Oil: In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the coconut oil. Avoid overheating to prevent losing its nutritional benefits.

  2. Mix in the Cocoa Powder: Once the coconut oil is melted, add the cocoa powder and whisk until smooth and well combined.

  3. Add the Sweetener and Nut Butter: Stir in the sugar-free sweetener, almond butter, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth. If you're using a granular sweetener, ensure it dissolves completely.

  4. Add Optional Mix-ins: If you're adding nuts, chocolate chips, or shredded coconut, fold them into the mixture at this point.

  5. Prepare the Pan: Line an 8x8 inch square baking dish with parchment paper, allowing some paper to overhang the edges for easy removal.

  6. Pour the Fudge: Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared dish, spreading it evenly with a spatula.

  7. Chill the Fudge: Place the dish in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until the fudge is completely set and firm.

  8. Cut into Squares: Once the fudge is set, lift it out of the dish using the parchment paper and cut it into small squares.

Tips for Success

  • Consistency: If the fudge is too soft, you can adjust by adding a bit more cocoa powder. If it's too firm, add a bit more coconut oil.
  • Storage: Store the fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. You can also freeze it for longer storage.
  • Experiment with Flavors: You can add other flavors like mint extract, orange zest, or sugar-free caramel sauce for a unique twist.
  • Avoid Overheating: Keep the heat low when melting the coconut oil and other ingredients to maintain the texture and flavor.
