I first whipped up these Oatmeal Raisin Cookies right before my mother's birthday as a treat for my amazing mom. Like me, my mom has an overwhelming sweet tooth–I think it’s safe to say that I inherited it from her.

Oatmeal raisin cookies are a classic treat, loved for their chewy texture and the combination of sweet raisins with wholesome oats. Here's an easy and delicious recipe to make these cookies at home. This recipe yields soft and chewy oatmeal raisin cookies with a hint of cinnamon.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 1 1/2 cups raisins

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

  2. Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, and beat until smooth and creamy.

  3. Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Mix well.

  4. Combine the Dry and Wet Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the butter-sugar mixture, stirring just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  5. Add the Oats and Raisins: Stir in the oats and raisins until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

  6. Scoop the Cookies: Use a cookie scoop or spoon to drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie. Flatten the tops slightly with the back of the spoon.

  7. Bake the Cookies: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set. The cookies may look slightly underdone in the center, but they will continue to set as they cool.

  8. Cool and Serve: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire cooling rack to cool completely. Serve and enjoy!

These oatmeal raisin cookies are perfect for a quick snack, dessert, or even as a homemade gift. They can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. If you'd like more cookie recipes or baking tips, I'm happy to help.
