Happy and blessed day to all! Today I am writing a little about my experience of motherhood after having undergone gastric bypass surgery for being morbidly obese .

Mi pansa de casi 9 meses/ My pregnancy of almost 9 months❤️

I will tell you a little about my experience: It all started when I was having my checkups with the gastroenterologist, because I am regularly post-gastric bypass surgery I have to have check-ups. I was very upset at the stomach level (heartburn, colic, nausea) and they sent me to do several studies and tests, among them the pregnancy one, which initially gave negative results. They indicated a fairly strong treatment, with a series of medications to alleviate the discomfort. I did the treatment partially because I could not locate all the medications and I improved a little, but a few days later I felt the discomfort again this time stronger, which caused me to go to the clinic as an emergency, since I would not stop vomiting. Once again they perform a series of tests on me and it turns out that this is when they surprise us that it was not my stomach, but that it was my little princess who was on the way.
An explosive mixture of emotions that took hold of me at that moment, surprise, joy, fear, happiness was incredible and my husband's face of happiness when seeing the result was wonderful, we were really surprised because my medical condition had a subcutaneous contraceptive implant which barely 1 month after I had retired (because it had already reached its 3-year time limit), the gynecologist recommended that I wait 3 months to replace a new implant but Lucia had other plans hahaha.😆

At first, amidst the immense happiness, I also felt fear because my bariatric surgeon always recommended that I wait 4 to 5 years after the bypass to conceive a baby, since it is the standard time in which the body gets used to your new condition. reduced stomach and also that due to the type of operation the body does not normally absorb the nutrients from the food we eat, so we must consume many vitamins (B complex, iron, calcium, folic acid, multivitamins) to avoid falling into anemia and other conditions; For this reason, I was planning to have a new implant placed for a couple of years and wait for the indicated period, but God's timing is perfect and she decided to send Lucia's blessing to our lives in this unexpected way.
That same week we went to my gynecologist, the best in the world for me, and we heard for the first time the most beautiful sound in the world, the heartbeat of my baby. Magically my stomach ailments disappeared hahaha, now because I lived hungry and ate everything in a few portions but at all times, sometimes even things that I knew I should not because the cravings were like from another world, this made me gain weight more than I should have, which caused me sciatica during pregnancy as well as a lot of scolding from my doctors. Due to the bypass condition, I had to undergo many tests and special echoes from that third month of pregnancy to the last, but thank God my daughter Lucia was happily born in April 2.018.😍

Primer ecosonograma de Lucia/ Lucia's first ecosonogram ❤️

eco1.jpg

The first thing was to perform many laboratory tests (general profile, lipid, calcium / iron levels, insulin test and basal and postprandial glycemia), in addition to placing myself in control with a specialist in perinatology for special tests that I had to do to the baby to monitor her growth (morphological echoes, echocardiograms) and that throughout the pregnancy she was working together with my obstetrician-gynecologist. By the third month thanks to these morphological echoes we already knew the sex of the baby, with great enthusiasm we began to buy her things because we waited for her with much love, despite the fact that in the culture of my country it is said that it is bad luck to buy her things the baby before the seventh month, but imagine the anxiety of waiting so long.
However, with the pregnancy, the comments of people who believe themselves doctors and who bombard you with opinions and even theories that do not even exist, as my husband and I say: "the myths and legends of my pregnancy + bypass"🙄🙄🙄 could not be absent. ; For example, they even told me that "my baby would surely have problems growing and developing" because I had undergone gastric bypass surgery, which is totally false because whenever the necessary vitamin supplements are consumed, the baby manages to develop normally and after the 4th year of operation the body is ready to conceive, as it has had enough time to get used to its new condition; Another person told me that "I would surely have to undergo punctures to verify the baby's condition", which is also false thanks to technology and morphological echoes; Another "well-known myth during pregnancy was that surely I should proceed to put medications to accelerate the maturation of the baby's lungs" because according to them my body would not support the full gestation time (9 months of pregnancy) which was also false since my Gynecologist-obstetrician explained to me that this type of complications can occur but they have nothing to do with the baypass but with general conditions of the baby's development and one of the most but most repeated comments was that "you will lose the operation, you will get another fat Once" and it was really the opposite, I spent the whole pregnancy wanting to have the largest breast in the world and it was always small, and although if I gained some weight I lost it when I started breastfeeding.

Everything was going very well, until in the seventh month I began to have a lot of dizziness and some decay, with a laboratory control my obstetrician-gynecologist determined that I was suffering from gestational diabetes, a type of diabetes that develops in pregnant women, with treatment and diet we managed to control it. This same month we had the opportunity to perform a 3D echo and a video of Lucia in my belly with the perinatology specialist and it was spectacular, the doctor confirmed that thank God the girl was healthy and growing normally, obviously we left that consultation a lot more in love with our daughter, seeing her face was beautiful.😍

Already in the last month of pregnancy, I had weekly consultations with the obstetrician-gynecologist and she verified that everything regarding the development of the baby was normal, we planned a cesarean section for April 6, 2018, we decided to cesarean section because in those last weeks Lucia was sat down, believe me it was very difficult to sleep or walk but it was really worth all the sacrifice, because a mother for her child does everything possible and impossible for his well-being and supports everything.❤️

Mi esposo y yo en la dulce espera disfrutendo del mar/ My husband and I in the sweet wait enjoying the sea❤️

Lucia came like a whirlwind to change our lives but for the better, it was not like some used to tell me: "now you won't be able to do what you like", quite the opposite, *** NOW I CAN DO WHAT I LIKE WITH THE BEST COMPANY OF THE WORLD. *** And although motherhood can be initially somewhat scary, it certainly becomes a chaotically beautiful world, where your life revolves around your baby and it is wonderful.

Do not let baseless comments and stories OVERLOAD you, less when you are in the best stage of your life, enjoy your motherhood to the full, take only the positive from the external and discard the negative. It is my advice as a new mom.❤️
