No es la primera vez que me ocurre un accidente parecido a este, aunque no me suceden con tanta frecuencia. Me siento afortunada de tener los conocimientos relativamente básicos, y ayuda, para poder solucionarlos. Al mismo tiempo veo lado positivo de que ocurran este tipo de cosas. Ya que me da la experiencia de carrera que me gustaría tener más seguido.

It is not the first time that an accident like this has happened to me, although it does not happen so often. Solucionar problemas técnicos en el área de la tecnología se me hacen de alguna manera divertidos. Los veo como un desafió para poder ampliar mis conocimientos. Ya sean pequeños o muy complicados, siempre trato de buscar por mi cuenta la manera de enfrentarme a ellos, y si no lo logro, siempre recurro a la vieja confiable: Mi papá, Licenciado en Informática.

Solving technical problems in the area of technology is somehow fun for me. I see them as a challenge to broaden my knowledge. Whether they are small or very complicated, I always try to find my own way to deal with them, and if I don't succeed, I always turn to the old reliable one: My dad, who has a degree in Computer Science.

Esta vez me paso algo gracioso. Estaba formateando una partición de una unidad externa que tenia conectada a mi computadora. Me encontraba tan apurada y al mismo tiempo usando un programa que no había utilizado antes. Sin contar que estoy medio ciega😂, no tener la formula correcta en los lentes suele jugar en contra. Entonces al no conocer el programa, me había interpretado de una manera diferente las letras asignadas a las unidades que estaban particionadas, ademas que las coloco todas juntas, sin lineas para distinguir entre ambos discos.

This time something funny happened to me. I was formatting a partition of an external drive that I had connected to my computer. Destacando que, mi computadora tiene un dual boot, dos sistemas operativos en el mismo disco. Windows y MX Linux (el cual confieso que no me gusta mucho). Sin querer, formatee la partición incorrecta, aquella donde tenia el Linux. Cuando me di cuenta lo que había pasado no le tome mucha importancia, puesto que no tenia ningún dato guardado ahí. Y termine el proceso que estaba haciendo.

Emphasizing that, my computer has a dual boot, two operating systems on the same disk. Windows and MX Linux (which I confess I don't like very much). I accidentally formatted the wrong partition, the one where I had the Linux. When I realized what had happened I didn't take much notice, since I didn't have any data stored there. Ya sabia que me iba a salir este error, un error de grub. Puesto que, al eliminar la partición del Linux, también eliminaba el gestor de arranque. Así que sin pensarlo mucho, ya sabia la solución. Decidí ponerme de lleno a ello y reparar el error que cometí.

I knew I was going to make a mistake, a grubby mistake. Because, by removing the Linux partition, I was also removing the boot loader. So without much thought, I knew the solution. I decided to get right into it and fix the mistake I made.

Para ello estuve empleando una unidad externa booteable, donde ya tenia el ISO de Windows 8.1, el sistema que tengo en mi pc. La solución era muy simple, solo tenia que reparar usando el instalador. Ubicando el símbolo del sistema e introduciendo dos comandos. Al final, extraer la unidad e iniciar el sistema. Bastante fácil y nada complicado desde mi punto de vista, después de todo es lo que me gusta.

I was using an external bootable drive, where I already had the ISO of Windows 8.1, the system I have in my pc. The solution was very simple, I only had to repair using the installer. Luego de arreglar el problema del arranque, me quede pensando si instalar el Linux de una vez o no. Entonces siguiendo el dicho: no dejes para mañana lo que puedes hacer hoy. Decidí hacerlo, pero no el mismo SO que tenia antes, si no uno que me gusta muchísimo más. LINUX MINT! Desafortunadamente no tenia la ultima versión 20 Ulyana y descargarla no era opción debido a la velocidad y calidad del Internet.

Así que como ya tenia descargada la versión 19.1 Tessa, con entorno de escritorio Cinnamon. Cree mi usb bootebale utilizando rufus.

El proceso de instalación es muy sencillo. Entre las distribuciones Linux que he probado, Manjaro, Linux mint, Zorin OS, Mx Linux, Debian, Ubuntu, Elementary OS (creo que ninguna que haya utilizado se me escapa). Son muy parecidos entre si, al momento de instalar. Me queda pendiente Arch Linux, es mi nuevo desafío!

Para hacerles un resumen: Elegir idioma de instalación, idioma del teclado, configurar Wifi, instalación Software de terceros. Luego la parte donde se debe tener más cuidado es en elegir el espacio de instalación, si se quiere instalar junto con otro SO, o si se quiere borrar todo e instalar.

Al igual si se quiere establecer particiones para los diferentes ficheros, en lo personal es lo que hago cuando solo voy a utilizar solo Linux en una computadora. En este caso he estado utilizando ambos sistemas, así que escogí la partición correcta esta vez y lo instale!

To summarize: Choose installation language, keyboard language, Wifi configuration, installation of third party software. Then the part where you have to be more careful is in choosing the installation space, if you want to install it together with another OS, or if you want to delete everything and install.

The same as if you want to set up partitions for the different files, personally this is what I do when I am only going to use Linux on one computer. In this case I have been using both systems, so I chose the right partition this time and installed it!

A este punto ya estaba terminando la instalación, lo que queda es esperar a que se cargue completamente y lance el mensaje final. Reiniciar el equipo y extraer el Usb. Finalmente ya había terminado mi trabajo de reparación por hoy. Solucionar el primer problema no me tomo más de diez minutos, de hecho, tarde más tomando las fotos para compartirlo por acá. y la instalación de Linux Mint, solo tarde esperando que el instalador hiciera su trabajo.

Y aquí les muestro la cara de una persona feliz que ya tiene su computadora de nuevo funcionando. Aunque tiene la potencia de una nuez, un pentium y 2GB de Ram. Me funciona para hacer cosas básicas, resolver los ejercicios de Programación que me asignan en clases (Los que no, también) y para practicar el maquetado de Paginas Web, lo que he estado intentando últimamente.
