Wednesday Walk: musing while walking by the river,

avatar

This is my entry for #wednesdaywalk created by @tattoodjay. The rainy season has arrived in South-East Asia. Following the news about the heavy rain in China and the flooding of about twenty cities and several local dams have been breached, thus making the impact of flooding very severe. Walking by the river, Mae Nam Khong, which is natural border between Thailand and Laos, I realised how lucky we have been when comparing with tremendous natural disaster occurring in China at this time. I just hoped and prayed that the Three Gorges Dam would not collapse because of prolong heavy rain.

Dark clouds were gathering in the sky on the other side of the river. So, there were fewer villagers walking along the river and children could hardly be seen playing in groups as before. This pandemic and lockdown might have conditioned people to become more isolated from each other. The fear factor has been palpable here though there was not a single local case of infection during the past three months. The daily news update on coronavirus situation around the world made people glued to the monitors and they memorised all the latest statistics!

Most Thai people are very passive and gullible with aversion to confrontation. So, they behave like obedient students following every instruction without understanding or questioning the logic and reasons offered by the authority and officials. It was as if people were indoctrinated about the danger of the virus without any essential information on how to take Vitamin supplements to boost the immune system. The emphasis has been on having vaccines as soon as possible. Our education system has not been drastically changed from memorising text books to developing critical thinking skills. I could not dismiss the idea that those in power want to dumb down the population so that they are easy to be shepherded into shearing stations.

The peaceful and quiet atmosphere along the river was very healing and had a grounding affect on me. My mind could have some quiet moment to rest and unwind. Several unresolved thoughts flashed back for revision and resolution for clearer conclusions. Then, more space became available for eschewing new thoughts and contemplation. The beautiful and natural surrounding reminded me of precious moments in everyday life and how lucky to be alive and healthy in quite a safe place on earth.

I do hope that the Three Gorges Dam will be able to with stand increasing rain in July and August. otherwise over 400 millions people will be in troubles and Shanghai would be flooded. The economic and financial repercussions would be felt far and wide. Keeping my fingers crossed!

So glad you like this post. You’ll have to visit Thailand one day in the future. So, you could travel to the north and north-east of Thailand. There are also mountains you should visit!

Very peaceful and gorgeous place indeed! Year 2020 is filled with way too many natural disasters. Punishment from Mother Nature for over exploiting her. Thai people are passive because they realize through history the consequences of being outstanding and vocal without strong backing. Recently I came across the biography of Prince Prisdang and learnt about his sad predicament when he pressured the then Rama V into changing from absolute monarchy to constitutional monarchy, abolishing polygamy and etc. Even a prince could become a scapegoat so it must have been scarier for ordinary citizens.

Yup! This year is a turning point for so many things and a year of natural revolts against humans.

I think history is much more complicated as what we could find from books is selected interpretation and perception of what had happened. People looked at things in different ways according to their previous conditioning or worldview. We would never know all the facts and circumstantial evidence. Many details were not reported or recorded for various reasons.

Changes in Thailand can only be achieved through real democracy. Everything is futile with the current military junta regime. I was shocked that Future Forward Party was dissolved in 2020. Maybe good commoners were too tired to fight for the right cause or threatened with violence since they were outnumbered by political elites refusing to lessen their grip on power as they've enjoyed the comfort it brought for many generations.

I think you have to slow down about coming to conclusion on political complications and situation here. Your information was the result of ‘designed’ main stream media for mass consumption and conditioning (social engineering).

News is the information that they want you to consume and believe! Those hidden secrets and truth are not going to be published. Most Thais are also being conditioned and used as pawns in ‘divide and rule’ game of the overseas controllers. You are being played like most people in my country. Unfortunately, because of my circles of friends and acquaintances, I have realised that we are mere pieces on the chess board played by very powerful bankers and military industrial complex agents.

You could not know the ‘truth’, only manipulated information to influence your opinion and belief system. You have no idea Soros gave lots of money to politicians and academics plus journalists here. You have to be careful and slow down! Don’t judge too hastily! Direct evidence and cross examination of evidence!! Don’t believe what you read without questioning!

Cheers.

This is not a conclusion. Only listing possibilities of why I think ordinary Thai people behave a certain way. At the end of the day, it really doesn't matter what we (outsiders) think. Thailand is not our birth country and we have no voting rights here. I know Soros screwed up the economy in Thailand, Indonesia, South Korea and etc during the Asian financial crisis back in 1997 by forcing countries to take up loan from IMF with crazy interest rates. Many people committed suicides then. The problem here is political elites never do anything to prevent that and continuously let Soros screw you guys over and over again.

Oh yes, getting back to education, some educators do a poor job at school on purpose so that students would pay extra money to join cram classes. Is this a possibility in Thailand?
