My cat is afraid of climbing tree after his ordeal

avatar

Time flies and I am trying to fly on thin air; Happy Caturday is in order here before it slips away. You may remember that my orange cat got stuck in the tree last week and I had to climb up the tree to help him down in dimming light. Cat stuck on tree A few days ago, my cats were playing in the garden, so I picked up the big cat and put him next to a big tree. He just refused to stretch his paws to climb that tree. I was quite dismayed by his limping arms by his body. So, I put him on a smaller tree’s branch where he could sit and watch the views outside the house.

He was quite reluctant but he was on the tree with a very worried expression in his eyes. Before that incident, my big orange cat would be very alert and look intently at what’s going on outside the house, especially those stray dogs who were usually running along the promenade.

I stood nearby to give home moral support and to reassure him that he would not get stuck in this tree by himself. His sad eyes affected me as if he was asking me why I did this cruel thing to him. He was not enjoying this experience at all. His eyes were not drawn by happenings outside in the fields. He kept looking at the ground. So, I had to encourage him to climb down the tree by himself. He was rather gingerly trying to get firmer footing on the tree bark then he jumped the short distance to the ground.

I decided to let him be for the day and I would not try to make him climb the tree again. My orange cat still remembered his ordeal of getting stuck on the tree for almost half an hour. I do hope that he would regain his old self-confidence. We need him to be able to run up or climb up a tree as quickly as possible in case some stray dogs sneaked into the garden again. Meanwhile I just have to pray and hope that this cat will regain his courage and forget about his bad experience very soon.

img_3305.jpg

This was his expression a few weeks ago; still looking very care free.

img_3311.jpg

The former self-confident cat; very alert!

Wishing you peace, good health and prosperity.

Stay warm and cheerful.

Poor baby has PTSD!! Khun Mor Mali prescribes extra cuddles, some phla tu and more cuddles. He will find his tree-climbing feet again.

Such a handsome pair of cats!!

Thank you very much for your recommendations! These funny cats; they are very independent and don’t like too much cuddle! They act as if they are grown adults!! LoL

The lovely orange cat will be fine after awhile. He is very sensitive and is acting ashamed that he was unable to come down himself.I think if a dog came into the grounds he would move like lightning to the tree for safety. I do love you called him Joan and it doesn’t matter that it’s a female name here..anything goes nowadays and it could be an unisex name.

We don’t often see stray cats here in the country. There has been a beautiful calico cat hanging around. It looks like Halloween with the orange and deep dark fur. Under it’s chin is the white fur. Calico cats are usually female. It looks quite young and ate the cat food I put out but it is afraid. I don’t really need another cat but I would take it in. Red and Sunday stared at it from the kitchen window.

Oh! You found a stray cat near your house. I hope she would get along with your two cats. Perhaps you could make some photos about this stray cat.

I do hope my fat Joan will be as confident as before in climbing trees. I never knew that cats could be so sensitive and thoughtful until I have these cats! They actually teach me to be more considerate. LoL

Have a nice and productive week.

Sunday cat seems anxious to have her come in and play with him, @kaminchan but she is still afraid to let me come close to her. She waits until I go back into the house and then will come up and eat the food on the deck.

I did make a post the other day, in black & white photography, using her photo.

have a wonderful day !

I think it will take a few days to tame her. Yeah, I saw her photo already; she looks very nice even in black and white. She’s quite a pretty cat. I tame my cats by feeding them very nice cats snack tinge mood get them eating from my hand.

I hope this cat will get along with your house cats. Love to see some updates later!

Cheers.

Oh wow I missed this post earlier. I love your orange cats. Poor traumatized guy. It reminds me of when I was young here in Canada and a little orange cat climbed up a telephone pole. It was just a tiny thing crying in a snow storm. We could barely see him but we heard him cry for days. We called the fire department because that's what was done in the movies and they refused to show up. After several days of crying on the telephone pole my friend's dad got a ladder and managed somehow to coax the little kitten on to his hand. I don't know what happened to him.
I hope your guy will overcome his fear and become a climbing expert soon!

Oh! Dear! That’s a terrible thing to happen to a tiny kitten. Luckily that man was kind enough to rescue that poor kitten! I hope the kitten was adopted!

Thank you so much for becoming a fan-club of my orange cats! They are still quite shy and timid. Hope you could meet them one day and ask for their autograph or pawGraphs!! LoL

Yeah! I hope so! He was showing off that day despite my shouting out to tell him not to go up too high! But think he has learned his lesson!
