My Hive Intro 🐝 Better Late Than Never ⏲️

Better later than never, but I'm no stranger to the blockchain, and I guess we're all new to HIVE.

MY HIVE INTRO

Still alive and kicking, only on a new chain I guess. Hive is certainly a new adventure worthy of a (re)introduction. I started blogging on Steemit with a Wordpress & SEO background, but no clue how success would manifest itself.

The Khmerican Family Abroad series became a hit/failure, and even inspired to make a website based off of some of my blockchain stories. What I intended as a travel blog ended up becoming a more personal family blog.

Unfortunately, the Steemit-Hive split came right as I was starting to get settled. I had perfected my blockchain blogging style, found some nice tribes and communities, and was focused on doing some projects in 2020 for @ReggaeSteem and @NaturalMedicine.

I even onboarded the whole family, with Sakana (aka Monkey B) and Sakada (Srey Yuu) sharing the @KidSisters profile, and Sreypov taking @Sreypov. Then the 💩 hit the fan. The Suriname economy began failing, inflation rampant, the blockchain turned into a hot mess, and then COVID-19 🦠 came to town.

I wasn't too happy with how this fork went down. The tribe and SCOT token owners really got screwed. While the hardfork was being discussed, SCOT tokens were being dumped by those in-the-know in preparation of a blockchain clone and a doubling of STEEM.

Many folks like me were left with a lot of worthless SCOT tokens that we had worked quite hard for. So, if it's a sign of the times, both COVID-19 and HF23 concentrated the wealth into the hands of a small minority.

With this in mind, I cautiously embark on my HIVE journey. It seems as though things are starting to calm down and this blockchain is starting to sort itself out.

No more reason to delay a proper introduction. I am Justin Parke, born in rural southern Indiana in 1983. I live in Suriname with my Cambodian fiance and our children. We were midway through the immigration process here when COVID-19 arrived, further complicating immigration procedures.

Here's what you can find me posting on or about within the HIVE blockchain:

  • family life (via the Khmerican Family Abroad series)
  • reggae music, Rastafari, Caribbean issues & Ital living (via @ReggaeJAHM)
  • vegan recipes, natural living & more (via NaturalMedicine.io)
  • a weekly fill-in-the-blank comic strip contest (#HiveComic - @TheTerminal)
  • random subject matter (check my blog)

I am part thepatriarch of a multi-cultural family on the move, and the blockchain is where I share our life's adventures and challenges. I also have Wordpress and SEO blogging background, but the blockchain is where I can relax and post to entertain HIVE readers and not google meta bots.

I've lived in the USA, Cambodia, Albania, Jamaica, Ecuador, and most recently, Suriname. The main goal in life now is finding a country willing to take my family (Cambodian passport holders) that is also stable and a decent place to live. Our options are limited, but this year we're attempting USA immigration via the K-1 Fiance Visa process.

Oh, this was great to read. I've seen you on the NaturalMedicine Discord channel but hadn't made a lot of conversation with you.
I'm also an immigrant! I was born in Venezuela but came to Colombia last year and it has been a hell of a mess as well! Migration is really hard to explain to people until you live it yourself.
You've got a beautiful family. I actually arrived here reading your fiancé's journal, which I adored. And your kids are two cuties!

Yes, a lot of people are living in Colombia it seems. I think it's a better life there. Unfortunately, my family is Cambodia, so they are very restricted in the western hemisphere.

We can't travel to Colombia, only transit it's airports. Thanks for your kind words.
