I had felt the poem (for Armando Rojas Guardia and in solidarity with him)

Two days ago I published this post in Spanish, and then the campaign in solidarity with the poet to whom I dedicated it had not started. Given his urgent health situation, I wanted to edit it in English to help, modestly, that cause.

The act of poetic writing, the challenge of the poem, the abyss of the blank page, are ways of naming one of the motifs of modern and contemporary poetry. It has been and is one of the impulses of my writing, influenced, without a doubt, by the poetic and reflective work of writers like Rafael Cadenas and Armando Rojas Guardia, among contemporary Venezuelans. To the poet Armando Rojas Guardia (about whom I have written essays that I have published digitally; see 1, 2, 3) I dedicated this poem that I wrote several years ago and that remained unpublished until now.

I had felt the poem

a Armando Rojas Guardia

I had felt the poem
I wanted to take it
and it' s gone.
He left leaving
alone the air
tapping on the window
alone the dark relief
on the walls
only the sounds
of the daybreak
alone the body tilted
and wounded on the paper

Will the poem be
this eviction
the revelation
what secretly
arrives
in his absence?
