Frosty Leaves

avatar

This week I'm working from home. It is called Home Office what means, my wife and I are sitting with our laptops at our dining table.

Frosty Leaves
Frosty Leaves

Good thing is that I can organize the working time myself. So, I have gone for a short walk at the reservoir in the morning. If was very foggy, and the fog has been too dense for me to take photos, and it was freezing cold, but there has not been very much frost on the plants.

Normally you could see the green water right behind these branches and further back the other side of the reservoir.

Dense Fog behind the Branches

There was just a little bit of frost on the twigs and mostly only on the edges of leaves.
In all images I have taken today, the background has been a big mess and so I was glad that in the end this messy background was not as distracting as I had thought.

I have made two versions of this last image, just because playing with Lightroom makes so much fun 😁 I don't know which one I prefer, but I think the left photo looks a bit warmer and more pleasing.

My pleasure! I hardly get frost around here, so I can only admire it on the photos :)

This is only the beginning of our cold and frosty season. I hope next time there will be many more of these beautiful white crystals on the plants ❄️
Thanks a lot again for your curation, @ewkaw 😊

Fog and cold, a good combination for photography. The frost-covered leaves are my favorites and great photos.

Yes, as cold as it is, as beautiful is the frosty nature.

With pleasure! I expect that in Bucharest, where I live, it will freeze a little for such images.

I love it when sometimes everything gets completely white overgrown from frost in winter ❄️😁

We have been back in a slightly warm trend, we did or were getting to the low 20's and teens a week ago,(-7 to -11C), but now are back in the low 30's, and still no significant snow yet, so the warmer weather is good since I have seen what happens with no snow and super cold weather.

I like the more cool look of the last leaf set, although I think if you were able to take the leaf part of the blue cool leaves and keep the background of the warmer set it would really make the leaves pop out even more.

Yeah, snow is important and I do hope we will get some more this year than in the past years, although the amount you always get might be a bit too much 😉

We have had warm days till last Saturday, when the windshield was frozen for the first time this year.

It's too late today, but if I find some time tomorrow I might try your suggestion 🙂

We need to have at least a foot of snow cover to prevent the ground from freezing to deep and freezing shallow wells and water pipes. I remember one year when we had very little snow cover and then hit the minus 20F,(-29C) and one of he towns water mains broke, what a mess that made.

A foot is about 0.3 meters - that would be nice to have in town once again, although all the white stuff would be dirty gray within a short time, and people lose all their driving skills as soon as the streets get white ;)

I haven't heard of such a frozen water pipe here, but when it rains too much in summer many sewers can't swallow that much water anymore and streets get flooded.

I think that looks the best of all three. Gives the leaves a real cold feeling against a warm background, and really makes the leafs pop.

Thank you, it was just a quick edit before breakfast, but I like it too and should have gone for such an edit instead of the other two, but I have learned something and hope I don't forget it next time ;)

Amazing how you can play with the editing Hannes,
I like the startk isolation of every piece and the dark backgrounds deliver a sense of mystery.
Beautiful photos once again my friend!

Blessings!

It's nice that you can work from home and organise your time the way it suits you.
Really beautiful photos @johannpiber. You right that left version is warmer, but I prefer right one. Is colder and in my opinion more natural.
Have a great evening, cheers !BEER .

Good morning my friend 😊

Working from home sounds better than is actually is, because I make more hours than when I go to the office ;)

Yes, you are right, because it was really cold yesterday morning and the colors match the temperatures better :) Today is much more foggy than yesterday and the forecast says the fog will stay all day long. I don't mind, because I have got much to do in my Home Office ;)

Thank you very much, @cezary-io, have a great day and take care 😊

Lovely captures of the frosty leaves Hannes. It’s difficult to decide which of the last ones I like best.

It must be a nice change to work from home , organize your time and enjoy the company of your wife as an extra bonus.

Have a pleasant Wednesday dear Hannes.😊

Thank you so much for the kind comment and the goodies, Jo 😁
I kind of prefer the left photo, but the right one shows more of the coldness ;)

Some tasks are more complicated at home, but it's right that it's much better at home. Here I even don't mind working in the morning or in the evening ;) lol
The "bonus" sits in front of me on the other side of the table :)

You have a great Wednesday too, dear Jo 🤗

But you have snow on the higher mountains in Australia - I remember to have seen photos of people in snow :)
But you are right, snow and especially frost might be really a rarity in your country.

So, I thank you very much that you like my photos and for your always kind comments, @kohsamui99, and I wish you a wonderful (rest) of the day 😊

Yep we do have snow on the higher mountains in Australia but we have to travel far if your not living close to them but your lucky you virtually have it in your own backyard 👍

Hopefully we will have it in our backyard this year once again, because the past few years have only been more gray instead of white.

Good morning@johannpiber 😊

Winter is coming 😊
It's good to work from home ... at least for a short while you can go for a walk ...
And you managed to take such beautiful photos ... I like the sheet you painted blue the most ... It's like it's made of ice 🤗

Have a nice day ☀️

Good morning @Suzana72 😊

Thank you so much - the blue leaves really seem to reflect the coldness better :)

Working from home is nice, but I work even more or better said longer than in my office, but I can make a break at any time I want and I can work even at night if I can't sleep ;)

Cold draws you outdoors just for excellent photography you know you will find on misty/foggy mornings in brisk fresh early morning walk.

A case of how much fog can you fill into the valley, tangible mysterious effect on exposure.

Blurred background on macro shots always make the image stand out, I do like the last image reflecting more silver tones, showing deep veins in leaves, with crisp edges.

Well now the !BEER can stand on the floor right next to you, no need of the fridge during winter season, take care and do some work, when working from home :)

You are very right Joan, and as I have seen this morning, you can fill even more fog into the valley, because today we could hardly see the neighbors house. So, yesterday hasn't even been that bad 😉

At first I had preferred the warmer image, but reading all the comments made me change my mind. But more I like the mix between both images, which I have made after @bashadow suggested it.

Thank you very much, dear Joan, I wish you a nice evening 😊

... correct, in these days we don't need a fridge for our drinks 😀
