Sometimes the opposite site of the Sunset is even better than the Sunset itself.

Actually, this scene was not really opposite the Sunset, but more to the left. Nevertheless it was better than the Sunset itself, which was not that spectacular because of the dark band of clouds which you can see on these photos too.

About two weeks ago I have been once more on the Saualpe Mountain Range (links below) to view and photograph the Sunset. Most of the sky over the horizon was covered in dark clouds and the Sunset wasn't as interesting as this scene to the left of it. There the band of gray clouds left a gap on the horizon and the setting sun let the scene look like the horizon was on fire.

On the same evening I have also seen and photographed a Halo to the right of the Sunset, which I have already posted the day after I was there: Fighting Gods.

After a couple of minutes the clouds closed the gap and a few moments later they also covered the sun, even before she could hide behind the horizon anyway.

Today was a surprisingly quiet morning and no meetings were planned either. So I thought I could take advantage of the situation and make this short post, because who knows what the rest of the day would bring.

All my photos were shot with the Canon EOS R and one of these lenses: Canon RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM, Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L IS II USM, Canon EF 16-35mm 1:4 L IS USM, Canon EF 50mm 1:1.8 L STM, SIGMA 105mm 1:2,8 DG MACRO HSM, SIGMA 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM C.

I leave all EXIF and IPTC information stored in the pictures.

I would be very happy to walk to work too... but the place where I work is too far away and I have to drive 20+20 minutes forth and back...

I do like the view you have from that point, all the different ridges and valleys. I know cameras don't always show the real feel of the setting, but when those valley areas are shrouded in mist and the ridge tops are clear they make a nice view.

We don't have a view point like that here that I have found yet, but getting the shots of the range across the inlet we do get some of that layering of mountains during sunsets.

I love such views you described and I want to try these misty shots in the mornings in Autumn, but I'm not sure if they will work because the sun rises behind the mountain behind my spot, but it's on my task list anyway 😉

What a awesoem view from up there and even if this is not the real sunset it is beautiful, its funny I see so many at times only looking where the sun is setting and not looking in other directions which as you show here can be amazing

I love that view up there and I'm so glad that I have found that place a few years ago. That's true, many times the sun illuminates the landscape or clouds much better opposite of where she actually sets. But I have to admit that I mostly also only look there and forget to look what's behind me.

maybe its because i am impatient or my brain runs to fast I have always even when not into photography been observant and always moving and looking all around, sometime it drive smy wife nuts, but then again its good for photo spotting

The wife is the opposite for the most part just looks ahead and now that she is gettign into taking photos on our walks, she looks at me and sees what I am looking at so maybe she will change

as for people watching me, I swear I have a 6th sense, I know if someone is looking ta me or following me, I just can feel it, was handy in some places I went where it could be dangerous at times i knew when to rturn around or go a different route and quickly lOL

Well for the most part I have been lucky, twice I was not observant enough or young and thought i was 10 foot tall and bullet proof and twice people have tried to Mug me, tried being the key word LOL I was fiesty and fast then if attacked shall I say and I came out better from the encounter than they did

LOL A mix of both, once was a couple of 20 year olds i guess I was happy to give my money tot hem and move on, but one was a jerk and took a swing at my face, then my temper kicked in, and I ended up walking away with my wallet and pride in tact

Other was in Hong Kong, walking home from a bar after to many beers, don't remember the details much, was told about it by the Chief of POlice at my farewell function, they called an ambulance for themselves and admitted to trying to mug me and pulling a knife and apparently i was the talk of the police force at the time lOL

Ithe sun did make an appearance for an hour or so, but yes I was indoors most of the day not all in the basement , was working in the garage on tidying up some boxes as well, but generally an easy day, even played on the switch for a while

You captured an awesome sunset of crimson colors on the Saualpe mountain range Johann.

I love the beautiful mountain ranges you have in your country and the layers of mountain, color and clouds you photographed. 🌟 The most I could see the sunset here is over some steep hills or in the backyard over the trees. 😄

Sometimes sunsets can not be always full of texture and fiery the dark band of clouds mixed with the mountains makes the sunset look quite nice in a different way nice shots 👍

I go almost always alone. When I'm on my own I can stop where I want and take my time, while when I am with someone I always think that I don't want to let the other one wait.

The next weeks are going to be very busy at work and I will come home late and tired most times. So I am not sure if I can go out shooting very often ☹️

I love such landscapes with layered mountains in various shades and sunsets or sunrises which look a bit different.

Agreed with you as those mountain layers are magical and over here they also continue to draw my eye no matter how many times I have seen them. Strange, but true!

I think that what you are saying is that if the price drops then you buy, which sounds like the ideal principle of investment practices. Sadly I have nothing to buy with, so I just have to ride it out.

Yes indeed, we are all waiting for Hive's expected moon, this year, next year, or whatever lol.
The low days allow us to build a solid foundation, but another sad thing is that the vote values drop when the price drops and more are taken from the vote values over the 7 day periods.
I have just seen a post of mine drop in value by 18 cents.
But they say that your income is not yours until it's in your wallet lol.

Movement of sun across the sky with clouds around make a dazzling display of a painted horizon at the end of the day. One sometimes captures more interesting photographs without the sun being the main feature at all.

Nice mood photography, oh when the sky is alight with fire!

It is usually what is between the lines that are the most interesting. The mountains look like they are on fire! When I am taking shots on the beach of sunset, it is almost never the setting sun that catches my eye, but, the color that is offset of the view, then, of course, those 15 minutes late that gives me the stunning.

I love your life and how you use the opportunity to share the beauty with us.

That's true what you say, Denise 😊

The time before the sun rises is my preferred time. When she's over the horizon I usually stop photographing, unless there are the right clouds on the sky. Same with sunsets, but the other way round.
And never forget to always watch the rest of the sky and behind you 😉

At the moment I have so much to do at work that I'm often just too tired or not in the mood to get out photographing or making a post. Time is something I would need too ☺️

The sky has very gorgeous colors! It seems that the horizon is on fire, as you said, I agree....

The mountains are magnificent and the clouds are wonderful.....
