At first I wanted to make a #Monomad post, but then I thought that if I only post every two weeks at the moment, I should at least add some more color to the post about two monochrome dead trees.
So I have added some a little bit more colorful images which I have photographed during the same hike on the Dobratsch Mountain in the beginning of January 2019.

I like such minimalist images, especially when they are photographed in black & white or are converted to monochrome, but in my eyes these tree stumps look better in color.

On my way back down from the Mountain I have taken photos of the lakes north and east of my position. I have already shown some of the other images I have taken there before, I believe.

It was a hazy morning with little contrasts and the photos didn't look good in monochrome, but still kind of nice in color with this subtle orange color stripe on the horizon and the light morning mist climbing up from the valley.

While the sky behind the other tree stump has been more or less cloudless, a couple of minutes later and only a few meters forther down the path, some clouds have been growing behind this tree stump.

The above photos were taken more towards to the north and the east. The Karawanks mountain range in the south has still been a little bit more covered by clouds, but the morning sun had already begun to illuminate the sky and the clouds and a little later the clouds dissolved and the sky turned blue there too, as you can see in the last photo.

I would love to know which of the photos you prefer - the colored or the monochrome versions.

So, that was all for today - I hope you like my photos of a morning hike I really enjoyed.
Maybe in a few weeks I will find more time to engage and post more on the Hive, but I can't do much more than to hope ... time will tell.

All photos were taken on January 4th, 2019 with the Canon EOS M50 and the Canon EF-M55-200mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM lens, which I had back then.

Monochrome and colour in tree stump look effective, although to be honest the big blue sky against the dazzling white snow is where I was looking...

Light spilling out under the cloud giving orange reflection across the water defining height and depth visibility all in one.

Tree stump has two arms off the same side and bunny ears, must be Easter soon... Now seeing more in the colour photography with puffy clouds.

Hardly ever seeing snow, both colour photo's are the ones I prefer, black and white could be a mountain with cloud formation whereas the colour defines what one is look at, especially with soft morning sunlight touching the upper edge of the cloud.

Tomorrow after work I'll get my motorbike back and if nothing important comes inbetween, I'll have a long Easter weekend. On the bike I need my full concentration and can't think of work, even if I try, and off bike I will try to do the same ;)

Cool photography, takes me into different areas seeing things through the lens of someone actually up there enjoying the solitude.

Ghost writer 😄 wish I had the broomstick to go up into the mountains to witness scenery, with a !BEER in hand to toast!

When I took the photos in 2019 the world has been in order and I had the whole mountain almost for me alone. Now, because people can't travel as they want, they are everywhere at any time. That's why almost didn't do any hikes past year.

I love your kind of writing, the poetry in your words. You don't need to climb a mountain to know how it feels up there 😃

I got my bike back today and rode around the lake - it's really like a therapy for me 😁

Feel the freedom, bike gives you time to sort out many tangled thoughts. Going along quiet roads with stunning scenery, enough twists and turns to make it a fun adventure even for a short while.

It's good to see your post again. I hope that after shaking off covid and with spring in the air, you found your lost motivation.

In both cases I prefer colour over B&W . Amazing contrast between snow ❄ and blue skies is completely lost in Black and White version of tree stump photo.
Last photo of Karwanks mountain looks great in B&W, but I still prefer colour 😀.

Yes, I am sure that you will, as the winter is fading and there are new advetures waiting for you to get your great photos.

I also don't like digging in my archives, as I now have three 1Terrabyte external Hard Drives full of photos. Don't know what I am going to do with them.

You have got the same problems I also have - tons of photos which might never be seen again, but I just can't delete any.
When my hard drive is full I might swap it for a new one and store it somewhere safe for my kids. Maybe they want to show their grandkids how the world once looked 😃

Oh yeah, I am on my third 1 Terrabyte Hard Drive and will also soon have to buy a new fourth.
But this time I will be clever and buy a 3 Terrabyte HD.

Now if I knew how, I would get my own IT cloud and pour all of the photos into it. One terrabyte at a time. Then I can charge 50 cents for each photo taken out.
But this is only a dream.

Not a long time ago I didn't know how to fill a 1 gigabyte disk and today terabyte disks are fast full.

Most NAS systems are able to serve as cloud storage, but you would need special software, maybe an online shop for digital goods like images. You would also need separate prices depending on the use or license the customers want ... no idea, much work.

Yes, here too as at the start I had all of my photos on my PC. Then it gradually became too many and it strangled the PC performance, so I started to put them on USB's which also follied up quickly. Then I went the Gigabyte route and now the Terrabyte way.

I am sure that there must be something out there that is different from the current mass photo sellers and we just have to find it. At US 50 cent per photo we will undercut all of them in price.
Maybe one of the Hive devs could start something like this, as it will be income driven and it will not rely on the reward pool.
I am just thinking about the basics here, as seperate prices can be charged for commercial use.

I don't know the prices that are usually paid, but when I look at the millions of photos offered at Pexels or Pixabay for free I don't believe that someone would pay 50 cents for mine, at least not for most, but maybe I'm wrong.

Nah, I think that your photos will sell in a niche market Hannes, as they are great quality.
I will continue to tob about the problem of stashed photos, as there are many that have this problem and maybe some alternative solution can be found.

The word stash means to stake, or to store and also to save, such as we are doing with our photos Hannes.
I can take 300 photos in a morning and only use 6 to 12 for a post. The rest are stashed into my external hard drive.
One can also stash (save) money in a bank.

OK, now I understood - I used to take hundreds of photos per day too, but now, if I find time and motivation to get out, I take much less and I try to delete bad photos right in camera.
There are still many photos which never will be used, but which I somehow can't delete ;)

Hahaha, we are the same as I also delete squanky shots on my camera, but I still end up with a heap of photos that are too good to delete.

This morning I took 409 photos and after delecting the bad ones I am left with 302.

It's exactly the same here, bu tI wouldn't even have the time to look through the photos and delete the real bad ones. There's still some space left on my harddisks, so I have some time to think of an easy solution ;)

The tree stump makes a great photo. It reminds me of a old water pump.I always like the color photos but monochrome has it’s own beauty.

At the moment the sun is shining but it's windy and the next dark clouds are already in sight.

The east states of Austria are almost completely closed and in lockdown, but we are in the south and can visit my parents tomorrow and my wife's sister on Monday 😀

I quit smoking in July 2018, so I didn't think of a cigarette a few months later ;) but it was a very beautiful morning indeed, and in 2019 there haven't been many people hiking in the early mornings. So it was all quiet and calm and I had all for me alone :)))
Since this pandemic began you can go for a hike and you will meet lots of noisy people at any time of the day and night. I think to me that's the most annoying thing this virus has caused - the noise and the littering of these people.

I don't like a lot of people when I'm walking or making noise, and especially when I see garbage after their visit ... Here some mountaineers and walkers collect garbage and that's how the balance is maintained ...
