It was hot that night in Miami. The moonlight came through the window of the main room, revealing a man, shirtless, sitting in the middle of the main room. He was smoking a cigarette as he watched the night landscape.

The sweat made his face shine. He went to the kitchen, opened the refrigerator. I was looking for a beer but there wasn't one. She smelled the milk carton, but it seemed to be damaged. He grabbed a pitcher of lemonade and drank almost all of it.

He looked tired. Maybe from a long day's work. He took out a container that contained a meatloaf. He put it in the microwave. While waiting for the food to heat up, he lit up another cigarette and drank some more lemonade.

The beep of the microwave warned him that the food was ready. He sat in the living room in front of the TV, ate the cake and watched the TV, flipping through the channels, TV commercials and animal documentaries, finding nothing to his liking.

She washed the plate and the cutlery. On his way back to the main room, he saw the mail piled up in the hall. He picked it up and opened the letters. Most of it was advertising, discount coupons and bank statements.

The heat was getting more and more intense. Those summer nights could be unbearable, she went out into the small garden, there was no breeze. The leaves of the trees were still. He went back inside the house, he looked angry.

In the midst of the loneliness and silence, he took a picture from his wallet, in the picture was a beautiful woman, about ten years younger than him, accompanied by a girl about eight years old. For an instant the marginality vanished from her face, showing a slight smile. But it was a very small moment. He returned to love the loneliness in which he was and hate appeared again in his expression.

A car was heard parking in front of the house. A few steps and the keys opening the door.

The man did not move, he remained seated in the middle of the room. A couple entered the building. The woman remained holding the door, while her husband went straight to the kitchen to leave some bags with food. He didn't have time to get there. A bullet hit his head, splashing blood on the refrigerator.

The woman had no time to react. Two bullets killed her instantly. Her body fell in the middle of the door.

The man with no shirt, approached the bodies and gave them a shot of grace. He was a hitman hired by a drug cartel. The victims were the family Haynes, a couple that made works of money laundering for the mafia in Miami.

The scream of a boy llmando to their mother put it in alert. He/she was the small one of the couple, of ten years of age. He/she had stayed in the car taking out the box of some new skates. That's why the woman was holding the door, waiting for her son to come in.

That was the reason for the hitman's anger. He was also a father and found it difficult to do his job when children were involved. He grabbed the kid and covered his mouth so he wouldn't keep screaming. The sweat ran down his face, a sweat that mixed with the tears of rage, as he snuffed out that innocent little life. The orders were clear. No one could be left alive.

No podia quedar nadie vivo.
