Dentro de este gran mundo de la fotografía existen varios instrumentos los cuales nos ayudarán a realizar mejores trabajos fotográficos y por tanto a hacernos la vida mucho más fácil. Y es que a la hora de hacer fotos hay factores externos que nos pueden complicar el día y es ahí cuando entra el pequeño amigo del que les voy a hablar hoy, el Flash Zapata.

Inside of this great world of photography there are several instruments which will help us to do better photographic work and therefore make life much easier for us. And the thing is that when it comes to taking photos there are external factors that can complicate our day and that's when the little friend I'm going to talk about today, Flash Zapata, comes in.

What is the Flash Zapata?

No es más que un dispositivo que por lo general va colocado encima de nuestras cámaras el cual lanza un destello de luz artificial de alta intensidad por un periodo de tiempo muy pequeño y que a su vez puede llegar a rebotar en cualquier estructura logrando iluminar el espacio en cuestión.

It is nothing more than a device that is usually placed on top of our cameras which launches a flash of high intensity artificial light for a very short period of time and which in turn can bounce off any structure, illuminating the space in question.

Los hay de diversas marcas, Nikon, Canon, Sony, Profoto, Yonngnuo, etc. Cada uno va a depender del modelo que sea tu cámara pero básicamente todos hacen el mismo trabajo, crear luz. La cosa es que no es solo comprarlo, colocarlo y ya, ojala fuese así, el manejo de este pequeño aparato requiere tener ciertos conocimientos que nos ayudarán a sacarle el máximo provecho.

Hace un poco más de 3 años cuando comencé mis estudios fotográficos tomé uno de los cursos sobre el Flash Zapata o Pistola, es válido de las 2 maneras, porque entendiendo la fotografía me di cuenta lo necesario que es para realizar cualquier trabajo, ya sea en exteriores o interiores.

Entonces, existen varias cosas que debemos conocer antes de aventurarnos con el manejo de este flash:

Si se dan cuenta TODAS las cosas a considerar a la hora de un adecuado uso de estos instrumentos fueron abordadas en las publicaciones anteriores ya que como les dije en aquellas ocasiones, si no saben que significan tanto el ISO, diafragma como la velocidad de obturación, poco podrán hacer dentro de la fotografía. Todos ellos son conceptos básicos y vitales.

- La potencia.

The power.

Cuando vayamos a usar el flash será muy raro el día en que lo coloquemos a su máxima capacidad ya que el poder que tiene es muy grande. Es por eso que se debe aprender a visualizar en nuestras mentes previamente el lugar que va a abarcar todo el campo lumínico para de esta manera tener más certeza que parte del encuadre de la foto va a recibir la iluminación y que parte no.

When we are going to use the flash it will be very rare the day that we place it at its maximum capacity since the power it has is very big. That is why we must learn to visualize in our minds previously the place that will cover the entire light field in order to have more certainty which part of the frame of the photo will receive the lighting and which part will not.

- Uso del Diafragma.

Me atrevería a decir que el diafragma es de los componentes más importantes a la hora de utilizar el flash ya que parte de su éxito recae directamente en él. ¿Como? - pues es el diafragma el encargado de determinar cuanta luz va a caer sobre el sujeto o persona iluminada por el Flash. Esto quiere decir que esas zonas donde llegue el destello del flash estarán correctamente expuestas.

- Velocidad de obturación y su rol.

Shutter speed and its role.

En lo que a la velocidad se refiere es de igual manera super importante ya que de ella va a depender la integración entre la luz del ambiente y la exposición del sujeto. Entonces, mientras más rápida sea la velocidad hasta 1/200 o 1/250 la luz del ambiente quedará totalmente anulada y solo obtendremos la luz del flash, como el ejemplo de la foto que les muestro.

As far as speed is concerned, it is also super important since the integration between the ambient light and the exposure of the subject will depend on it. So, the faster the speed up to 1/200 or 1/250 the ambient light will be totally canceled and we will only get the light from the flash, like the example in the photo I show you.

Ahora si la velocidad es más lenta 1/50 por ejemplo, tendremos una mejor mezcla entre luz ambiente y luz del flash. Son estas cosas lo que hacen que todos los elementos guarden relación y sean aplicables en cualquier foto.

- Modo de empleo del ISO.

How to use the ISO.

El ISO básicamente en lo que nos va a ayudar es a ahorrar baterías, pues si, así mismo. El ISO es la sensibilidad de nuestras cámaras ante la luz por lo que si lo aumentamos eso nos va a permitir que bajemos la potencia de nuestro flash y de esa manera estaremos ahorrando baterías. Es decir, a mayor ISO menos potencia del flash.

The ISO basically in what is going to help us is to save batteries. The ISO is the sensitivity of our cameras to light, so if we increase it that will allow us to lower the power of our flash and in that way we will be saving batteries. That is, the higher the ISO, the less power of the flash.
