Hello friends, good vibes everyone.
Inside of this great world of photography there are several instruments which will help us to do better photographic work and therefore make life much easier for us. And the thing is that when it comes to taking photos there are external factors that can complicate our day and that's when the little friend I'm going to talk about today, Flash Zapata, comes in.
- ¿Qué es el Flash Zapata?
What is the Flash Zapata?
It is nothing more than a device that is usually placed on top of our cameras which launches a flash of high intensity artificial light for a very short period of time and which in turn can bounce off any structure, illuminating the space in question.
There are various brands, Nikon, Canon, Sony, Profoto, Yonngnuo, etc. Each one will depend on the model that your camera is, but basically they all do the same job, create light. The thing is that it is not just buying it, placing it and now, hopefully it were so, the handling of this small device requires having certain knowledge that will help us get the most out of it.
A little more than 3 years ago when I started my photographic studies I took one of the courses on Flash Zapata or Pistol, it is valid in both ways, because understanding photography I realized how necessary it is to carry out any work, whether in exterior or interior.
Entonces, existen varias cosas que debemos conocer antes de aventurarnos con el manejo de este flash:
So, there are several things that we must know before venturing with the handling of this flash:
- La potencia del Flash.
- Uso del Diafragma para la exposición.
- El modo de empleo del ISO.
- El rol de la velocidad de obturación.
- The power of the Flash.
- Use of the Diaphragm for the exposure.
- How to use the ISO.
- The role of shutter speed.
If you realize ALL the things to consider when properly using these instruments were addressed in the previous publications, as I told you on those occasions, if you do not know what the ISO, aperture and shutter speed mean, they will be able to do little within photography. All of them are basic and vital concepts.
- La potencia.
When we are going to use the flash it will be very rare the day that we place it at its maximum capacity since the power it has is very big. That is why we must learn to visualize in our minds previously the place that will cover the entire light field in order to have more certainty which part of the frame of the photo will receive the lighting and which part will not.
- Uso del Diafragma.
Use of the Diaphragm.
I would dare to say that the diaphragm is one of the most important components when using the flash since part of its success falls directly on it. How? - well, it is the diaphragm that determines how much light is going to fall on the subject or person illuminated by the Flash. This means that those areas where the flash hits will be correctly exposed.
Una pequeña guía podría ser:
A little guide could be:
- Potencia 1/1 -- f22
- Potencia 1/2 -- f16
- Potencia 1/4 -- f11
- Potencia 1/8 -- f8
- Velocidad de obturación y su rol.
Shutter speed and its role.
As far as speed is concerned, it is also super important since the integration between the ambient light and the exposure of the subject will depend on it. So, the faster the speed up to 1/200 or 1/250 the ambient light will be totally canceled and we will only get the light from the flash, like the example in the photo I show you.
Now if the speed is slower 1/50 for example, we will have a better mix between ambient light and flash light. It is these things that make all the elements relevant and applicable in any photo.
- Modo de empleo del ISO.
How to use the ISO.
The ISO basically in what is going to help us is to save batteries. The ISO is the sensitivity of our cameras to light, so if we increase it that will allow us to lower the power of our flash and in that way we will be saving batteries. That is, the higher the ISO, the less power of the flash.
Well my people for today is everything, I hope you liked it.
¡A hug to all, we read in the next one!
