¿Vivimos en una simulación o en el "mundo real"? If we are living in a simulation, how does the “real world” look?

Saludos, hivers. Continúan las interesantes preguntas de esta tercera entrega del desafío propuesto por los amigos de Blogging Challenge. Para este día veintiocho la invitación es a reflexionar sobre un tema que ha inquietado la mente humana desde los tiempos más antiguos: qué es realidad y qué fantasía. ¿Si vivimos en una simulación, cómo miramos el mundo real?

Al leer la pregunta lo primero que pensé fue en Matrix, la célebre película de fines de siglo dirigida por las hermanas Wachowski. En el film, un grupo de personas se dan cuenta que viven en una simulación, lograr salir de ella y comienzan a vivir en el mundo real. Al principio el contacto con la realidad es brutal, los sujetos se impactan y se decepcionan, se niegan a creer que eso sea la realidad. Una situación completamente normal, puesto que despertar de una fantasía puede ser una experiencia aterradora y frustrante.

Greetings, hivers. The interesting questions of this third installment of the challenge proposed by the friends of Blogging Challenge continue. For this twenty-eighth day the invitation is to reflect on a topic that has troubled the human mind since ancient times: what is reality and what is fantasy. If we live in a simulation, how do we look at the real world?

When I read the question, the first thing I thought of was the Matrix, the famous late-century film directed by the Wachowski sisters. In the film, a group of people realize that they are living in a simulation, manage to get out of it and start living in the real world. At first the contact with reality is brutal, the subjects are shocked and disappointed, they refuse to believe that this is reality. A completely normal situation, since waking up to a fantasy can be a frightening and frustrating experience.

De cierta manera todos vivimos en una simulación, en nuestro tiempo los medios de difusión de información y los mass-media, en general, tienen el poder de crear visiones distorsionadas de los acontecimientos, muy sesgadas, donde se alteran los hechos. Para muchos, la única realidad conocida es la presentada en la TV o el streaming. Lo que no está en los medios o internet, pues sencillamente no existe. La manipulación es un hecho que nos afecta a escala global.

Hablar de “mundo real” se ha vuelto problemático. Las personas no tenemos ningún control de las informaciones que nos llegan. Son los medios de comunicación los que deciden qué parte de la realidad vamos a ver y a partir de allí el resto sacamos conclusiones, que generalmente solo son medias verdades.

De ese modo nos vamos formando una idea distorsionada del mundo y podemos llegar a conclusiones erróneas como por ejemplo, que un pueblo es belicoso, o que un país es el de las mujeres bonitas, o que en tal sitio la gente es infeliz. Un conjunto de generalizaciones que para nada se corresponden con la forma de ser de las grandes mayorías de cualquier grupo humano.

In a certain way we all live in a simulation, in our time the media and mass-media, in general, have the power to create distorted visions of events, very biased, where facts are altered. For many, the only known reality is the one presented on TV or streaming. What is not in the media or internet, simply does not exist. Manipulation is a fact that affects us on a global scale.

Talking about "real world" has become problematic. People have no control over the information that reaches us. It is the media that decide what part of reality we are going to see and from there the rest of us draw conclusions, which are generally only half-truths.

In this way we form a distorted idea of the world and we can reach erroneous conclusions such as, for example, that a people is warlike, or that a country has beautiful women, or that people in a certain place are unhappy. A set of generalizations that do not correspond at all with the way of being of the great majority of any human group.

Desde que estoy en HIVE he podido acercarme un poquito más a la realidad. Cada vez que exploro el feed de las diferentes comunidades encuentro una gran diversidad cultural. En nuestro ecosistema conviven personas de todas las culturas, de todos los credos y creencias, de todas las edades. Un gran mosaico humano que permite conocer muchísimas versiones de la vida de las personas comunes y corrientes, las que estarían más cerca de lo que pudiéramos llamar “el mundo real”.

En HIVE tenemos una experiencia distinta, más directa, al margen de la manipulación de los grandes medios de comunicación. Contar con el testimonio de personas de verdad nos da la posibilidad de mirar el mundo de una manera más real.

Since I've been in HIVE I've been able to get a little closer to reality. Every time I explore the feed of the different communities I find a great cultural diversity. In our ecosystem there are people from all cultures, of all creeds and beliefs, of all ages. A great human mosaic that allows us to get to know many versions of the lives of ordinary people, those who would be closer to what we could call "the real world".

In HIVE we have a different, more direct experience, outside the manipulation of the mass media. Having the testimony of real people gives us the possibility to look at the world in a more real way.
