Episode Nº 7

"Little Frederick"

It was 5:35 am, I was just getting up, I got up so early that I had time to turn off the alarm before it went off. I put on my slippers and went straight to the bathroom, brushed my teeth and washed my face too. Then I stretched as I usually do every day, I like to stretch my arms and legs a lot, since as I am growing it does my body a lot of good stretching, so I usually do some stretches that taught me A gym.

I went to breakfast, the breakfast was American type: some golden pancakes with butter on top, some fried eggs on the sides and a lot of bacon as I like, there were also several types of natural fruit juices but I asked for a meringue strawberry as I love it. At the dinner table I found out that my cousin Frederick was going to visit us just that day.

Cousin Frederick is 9 years old and is probably the most energetic and most active cousin in the world, he has always been a lightning bolt in the house. He always visits us every year at least once, since he lives in a place far away so he doesn't have much chance to visit us but only once a year. In all these years that he has visited us I have always been and I am sure that I will be his favorite cousin, since I am the one who gives him the most attention of all the brothers, the more I advise him and the more I take care of him ...

Din don rings the bell. I already knew who he was so I went to open the front door, and I was quite surprised when I saw my cousin Frederick was quite high, he did not look like him, it is also noted that the baby's face went away, now he seemed a boy that little little by little I was entering adolescence ...

We went to my room after he greeted everyone, I asked him how his school was, his friends, his parents (who are my uncles) and other things ... He told me that he was quite sleepy because of the trip, so I took advantage of that moment to do what he could to get him to sleep since I wanted to exercise calisthenics with Andrew and I knew that my cousin Frederick is very active and energetic and I don't think he gave me a chance to be able to exercise if he was awake...

So I applied an old strategy of mine that I have used for a long time with it. I opened my shelves I took out several children's books, I read the description for motivation and I was ready to invent a story ...

So I started:

  • This book is called: "Aladinsino with the incredible lamp"

Once upon a time there was a boy named Aladdin who lived in the Far East with his mother, in a simple and humble house. They had just enough to live on, so every day Aladdin scoured the center of the city in search of some food to put in his mouth.

On one occasion he was walking among the fruit stalls in the market, when he came across a very strange man looking like a foreigner. Aladdin was surprised to hear her calling him by name.

  • You are Aladdin, the son of the tailor, right?

  • Yes, and it is true that my father was a tailor, but ... Who are you?

  • I'm your uncle! You don't recognize me because I haven't been here for many years. I see that you are wearing very old clothes and it pains me to see you so skinny. I imagine that in your house there is no money left ...

Aladdin lowered his head a little embarrassed. He looked like a beggar, and his dark face was so bony that it made him look much older.

  • I will help you, but in return I need you to do me a favor. Come with me and if you do what I tell you, I will give you a silver coin.

Aladdin was surprised by the offer of this stranger, but since he had nothing to lose, he accompanied him to a remote area of the forest. Once there, they stopped in front of a hidden cave in the mountain. The entrance was very narrow.

  • Aladdin, I'm too big and I can't fit through the hole. Come in and bring me a very old oil lamp that you will see at the end of the passage. I don't want you to touch anything else, just the lamp. Understood?

Aladdin nodded and entered a long underground corridor that ended in a large room with stone walls. When he accessed it, he was amazed. Sure enough, he saw the old lamp on, but that was not all: the dim light allowed him to make out hundreds of jewels, coins, and precious stones, piled on the ground. He had never seen so much wealth!

He hurried to get the lamp, but he couldn't help filling his pockets as much as he could of some of those treasures he found. What he liked the most was a glitzy glittering ring that he put on his index finger.

  • What a beautiful ring! And it fits perfectly on my finger!

He returned to the entrance and as he stuck his head through the hole, the man said:

  • Give me the lamp, Aladdin.

  • I'll give it to you, but first let me out of here.

  • I told you, first I want you to give me the lamp!

  • No, I'm not going to!

The stranger was so enraged that he covered the entrance with a large stone slab, leaving the boy locked in the damp, dark underground passageway.

What could I do now? How to get out of there alive? ...

He looked around the place looking at her trying to find a solution. He was absorbed in his thoughts when, inadvertently, he stroked the ring and a genius came out of it. Aladdin almost died of fright!

  • What do you want, my master? Ask me for anything you want, I'll give it to you.

The boy, with eyes full of tears, said:

  • Oh, well ... I just want to go back to my house.

As soon as he spoke these words, as if by magic he appeared in his home. His mother received him with a big hug. With nerves trembling all over his body, he tried to tell the good woman everything that had happened. Then, calmer, he reached for a cotton cloth to wipe the dirty, old oil lamp. As soon as he rubbed it, another genie came out of it.

  • I am here to grant you a wish, sir.

Aladdin and his mother looked at each other in amazement. Two geniuses in one day was much more than one could expect! The boy launched into asking for what he most wanted at the time.

  • We are looking forward to eating! How about some rich thing to satiate all the hunger accumulated over the years?

Immediately afterwards, the old wooden table in the dining room was filled with delicious delicacies that they had tasted in their lives. Without a doubt, they enjoyed the best food they could imagine. But that did not end there because, from then on and thanks to the lamp that was now in his possession, Aladdin and his mother lived comfortably; They could ask the genius for everything they needed. They tried not to abuse him and limited themselves to requesting just enough to live without hardships, but they did not lack anything again.

One day, on one of his morning walks, Aladdin saw a beautiful woman pass by, raised on a bunk, with whom he fell instantly in love. She was the daughter of the sultan. He returned home and since he couldn't stop thinking about her, he told his mother that he had to do everything possible to make her his wife.

This time he would have to abuse the genius of genius a bit to carry out his plan! He rubbed the wonderful lamp and asked him to have a luxurious home with beautiful gardens, and of course, suitable clothes to present himself before the sultan, whom he wanted to ask for his daughter's hand. He also requested a retinue of lackeys mounted on slender steeds, to pull carriages full of riches to offer to the mighty emperor. With all this he appeared before him and was so impressed that he accepted that his beautiful and kind daughter was his wife.

Aladdin and Princess Halima, as it was called, were married a few weeks later and from the beginning, they were very happy. They had love and lived for each other.

But one afternoon, Halima saw the old oil lamp around the house and, knowing nothing, sold it to a ragpicker who was going through the streets buying junk. Unfortunately, he turned out to be the evil man who had locked Aladdin in the cave. Desiring revenge, the old man resorted to the genie of the lamp and ordered him, as the new owner, that everything that Aladdin had, including his wife, be transferred to a very distant place.

And so it was ... When poor Aladdin returned to his home, there was no home, no servants, no wife ... He had nothing at all.

She began to cry desperately and remembered that the ring she wore on her index finger might help her, too. He stroked it and asked the genie to return all that was his, but unfortunately the genie in the ring was not as powerful as the genie in the lamp.

  • My master, it is impossible for me to grant you that request, but I can take you to where your wife is.

Aladdin accepted and automatically found himself in a distant place next to his beautiful Halima, who fortunately was safe and sound. They knew there was only one option: to retrieve the wonderful lamp as it was so that they could return to the city with all their possessions.

Together, they devised a new plan. They asked the genie in the ring for a dose of poison and Aladdin went to hide. At supper, Halima sneaked into the evil foreigner's kitchen and poured it into the wine without him noticing. As soon as he poured himself a glass and wet his lips, he fell asleep in a dream that, as the genie had promised, would last hundreds of years.

Aladdin and Halima hugged each other and ran to retrieve their lamp. It was then that he told his wife the whole story and the power that the oil lamp had.

  • And now that you know everything, my dear, let's go back to our home.

He rubbed the lamp and as always, the great genius came out who always granted all his lord's wishes.

  • What do you want this time, my master?

  • Today I'm more glad than ever to see you! Take us home, old friend! - Aladdin said laughing with happiness.

So it was! Halima and Aladdin returned, and with them, everything the old man had stolen from them. Thereafter, they kept the wonderful lamp safe and continued to be as happy as they had been up to then.

Aladdin and the wonderful lamp - Classic tales. (c) CRISTINA RODRÍGUEZ LOMBA

The tale of Aladdin is one of the most popular stories of children's literature of Syrian origin that appears inserted within The Book of the Thousand and One Nights, a collection edited by the French Antoine Galland. In addition, the tale of Aladdin has its Disney version made in 1992.

Aladdin is a poor and slightly lazy young man who is recruited by a sorcerer posing as his late father's brother to earn his trust. This warlock convinces Aladdin and his mother to help the boy enter a magical cave full of treasures. The sorcerer's true intention is to trick Aladdin into retrieving for him a magic oil lamp from that cave that traps the one who enters it. However, the sorcerer's plan does not go as expected. Aladdin deceives the warlock and, although he remains locked in the cave, he conserves the magic oil lamp and a ring that the warlock had given him as protection. Aladdin realizes that with this ring he can summon a genie, who takes him out of the cave. Once at home, while cleaning the lamp, he discovers that from it comes another even more powerful genius. With his help, Aladdin becomes a rich and powerful man who marries a princess. However, the warlock will return with the intention of taking revenge.

As for the meaning of the story, the most valuable teaching in Aladdin's tale is that of recognizing your own effort to deserve a lasting good. Throughout history, Aladdin, confronting the magician when it seems that he has lost everything, develops a maturity that leads him to strive to recover what matters to him. It is this effort and maturity that makes him worthy of his happiness.

Immediately I noticed that my cousin was still awake, impressed I took another book to read the description and motivate me, my cousin was still awake more than before, he was very motivated by the story (you can see he liked it a lot) and I was too, so I wanted tell him another with great desire.

This book is called: "El Fiel Marino" I hope you like it quite a bit cuz ...

Many years ago there lived in Baghdad a young man whose job was to carry merchandise throughout the city. Every day he ended up exhausted from carrying so many boxes and complained that what he earned was not enough to stop being poor.

One day, at the end of the day, he sat down to rest by the door of the house of a wealthy merchant. The man, who was inside, heard him complain about his bad luck in life.

  • Work and work is the only thing I do! At the end of the day I only manage to raise three or four coins that they barely give me to buy a crust of bread and a little smoked fish. What a disaster of mine life!

The merchant felt sorry for the boy and invited him for a hot dinner. The boy accepted and was amazed to enter such a luxurious home with such rich delicacies on the table.

  • I don't know what to say, sir! ... I've never seen so much wealth.

  • That's right - replied the man politely - I am very lucky, but I want to tell you how I have achieved all this that you see. No one has given me anything and I just hope you understand that it is the fruit of a lot of effort.

The merchant, whose name was Sinbad, related his story to the intrigued boy.

  • You see ... My father left me a good fortune, but I wasted it until I was left with nothing. So, I decided that I had to become a sailor.

  • Marine? Wow! Wonderful!

  • Yes, but it was not easy. During the first trip, I fell off the boat and swam to an island, which turned out to be the back of a whale. The shock was tremendous! Luckily I was saved from being swallowed by her. I managed to hold on to a barrel floating in the waters and the current carried me to the banks of an unknown city. I wandered from one place to another for a while until I was able to be admitted on a ship that brought me back to Baghdad. It was a very hard day!

She finished speaking and gave the boy a hundred gold coins in exchange for the next day, when finishing her work, she returned to her house to continue listening to her stories. The young man, with his pockets full, began to bounce with joy. The first thing he did was buy a good piece of meat to prepare a barbecue and put on his boots.

The next day he returned to Sinbad's house, as agreed. After dinner, the man closed his eyes and recalled another part of his exciting life.

  • My second trip was very curious ... I spotted an island and we docked the boat in the sand. Looking for food I found an egg and when I was about to pick it up, a huge bird landed on me and grabbed me with its strong legs, lifting me up to the sky. I thought he wanted to drop me into the sea, but luckily he did it over a valley full of diamonds. I took as many as I could and, badly wounded, barely got out of there. I managed to locate the crew of my ship, but I almost didn't count it.

When he finished remembering his second trip, he gave him another hundred gold coins, inviting him to return the next day. The young man loved the adventures of old Sinbad the sailor and was on time for his appointment. Once again, the man was engulfed in his gripping memories.

  • It will seem strange to you, but even though I was already living comfortably I did not settle and wanted to go back to the sea a third time. Again, I ran very exciting adventures. We arrived at an island where hundreds of wild pygmies lived that destroyed our ship. They captured us and took us to their boss, who was a great giant with only one eye and a terrible look.
  • A giant? Spooky!

-Yes, it was terrifying! He ate all the sailors, but since I was very skinny, he put me aside. When he finished devouring them he fell asleep and I took the opportunity to grab the hot poker from the coals, which was red hot, and I stuck it in his only eye. The scream was terrifying! He turned angrily on himself but he could no longer see me and I took the opportunity to flee. I came to the beach and a merchant who had a small boat picked me up and gave me some cloth to sell when we reached a good port. Thanks to your generosity, I made a great fortune and returned home.

The young man was excited listening to the stories of the intrepid sailor. How many adventures had that man had! ...

For seven nights, Sinbad told a new story, a new journey, each more amazing than the last. And as always, before saying goodbye, he gave her a hundred coins.

When their last meeting ended, they parted affectionately. The merchant did not want him to leave without first telling him something important:

  • Now you know that whoever wants something costs something. Destiny is something to be fought for and that each one must forge. No one in this life gives anything away! I hope that the money I have given you will help you start new projects and that what I have told you will serve you in the future.

The young man realized that old Sinbad had accomplished everything with risk and effort. Now he had seven hundred gold coins, but he had learned not to be trusted. Although he would save part and invest it, he would continue working hard to, some day soon, be able to enjoy the same calm and comfortable life as his adventurous friend.

END

As if by magic my cousin finally fell asleep, I hope he enjoyed my three stories although I admit that each one was more exciting than the other, so I don't think he fell asleep out of boredom if not from the fatigue of the trip he had to come all the way here.

So I was finally able to go to my brother Andrew's room and I told him to start exercising (to start myself, since he has had a good time practicing calisthenics)

-What were you doing Lucas that took so long?

  • Believe me, you are not going to want me to tell you everything, because we are not going to end up exercising today. I told him while I was laughing a little

So we started, he guided me and taught me a lot, since for me calisthenics was like a new world, he taught me my new exercise routine, the importance of each exercise and what muscles he works, he also told me about nutrition, and how am I going to distribute my training for days...
