🎶🎻 Adagietto de Gustav Mahler / 🎶🎻 Adagietto by Gustav Mahler

Hello dear friends and readers of Hive and GEMS, I hope everyone is very well today,

Today I want to get a little out of the idea I was coming with and start a new one, a little more focused and curious (in my opinion), which is quite simple and different at the same time,

The main idea is to upload a new video every day, as I was already doing, but this time not from a different work, but at least from one work or movement, trying to cover much of it.

I give you an example:

In these following posts I will bring you what is the slow movement of the Mahler's Fifth Symphony, the famous Adagietto

From this piece I will remove important fragments in my opinion, which according to my criteria I must bring you, to explain little by little, part by part, all this beautiful movement,

So in each publication that this piece covers, I will bring you little pieces of the piece, giving you a textual explanation of how I had been doing it with other pieces, and bringing you the respective fragment in a video that I will interpret for you.

This way seems to me a simple and a little more accentuated way of explaining the famous symphonic pieces to them, in order to have the necessary time to talk about important and necessary points for understanding and thus assimilate everything in a better way.

That said, we will start with the first. Gustav Mahler.

This very important and one of my favorite composers, was born in the Czech Republic that at that time was still part of Austria and its empire, therefore the nationality was Austrian.

As he had previously commented in several posts, this composer was characterized by the turbulence that existed in his life and his proximity to death. Turbulence such as depressions, family problems specifically with the same father and the proximity to death as the death of several of his brothers in his childhood and also that of his own daughter.

This characteristic was present throughout his life, that is why all his music has a meaning far beyond. Beyond everything earthly. Meaning that in the post romantic period more was being used (from the same classicism)

The work that we will hear today, which is part as I already mentioned, of his Fifth Symphony, is perhaps one of the most beautiful movements that he has composed, precisely because he composed it in one of the most beautiful times of his life, with Alma Mahler

Alma was that strong and firm love, that despite being 19 years younger than the composer, who at the time was close to 40 years old, did not prevent him from clinging to it in a carnal and sentimental way.

That is why this movement is so subtle, sentimental, climatic, sublime, slow and fluid.

Starting with today's snippet, I will give you my view of this that we will hear.

Normally it starts with a note (C) from various instruments and the harp, the harp of which increases in intensity to make way for the melody.

This beginning for me is like the beginning of everything, the beginning of that feeling that is awakening. That awakening of the composer, knowing that everything is fine. That everything flows, and that he is totally in love.

These first three notes are that feeling of floating, of opening your eyes, and in that (me) is having your feet on the ground, having your eyes already open. That is why this succession of notes has a certain musical intention.

And that little by little it will flow, in other fragments that I will bring little by little.

At the end of the publication I reiterate my thanks for the support, listening and reading, Welcome always!

(Edited)

No, I don't. I play piano, but I got accepted to a composition camp and I got assigned to the viola as my instrument that I'll be working on. I've been trying to make myself familiar with this instrument lately. Learning its theory, some techniques, listening to viola pieces. Nice to meet you and thank you, looking forward to hearing your next tunes :))

Oh great!!! The viola has very good things, and although it does not seem it has many important differences with respect to the technique with the violin. Big hug!!
